Beating Bama? 10 wins? 11 wins? Division Title? BCS birth? National Title?

What is the minimum for 13 to be a successful year?

"Good" year is equaling last year's record

"Successful" year = SEC title

Considering the OOC and East opponents, if A&M plays at the level they started to attain by mid season form...I would think 11-1 pretty reasonable...12-0 shouldn't surprise anyone. It'll come down to UA@home and LSU@TS. But who knows, teams change year to year.

I will be pretty disappointed with anything less than 10-2, I know that.

Here is the way I see it. We have the potential to go 12-0 or 0-12 that's why we play the games. That being said I will be happy with a winning season and another successful recruiting year.

yeah, I dunno. I sort of expect a little regression tbh. We have a lot of question marks and because the coaches did a wonderful job hiding them most of last year we all have confidence they will do so again. We also stayed incredibly injury free which is not likely to happen two years in a row.

But we're really a year away in a ton of spots. I believe we'll have 2 seniors (Ennis, Jenkins) starting on defense and 3 on offense (Matthews, Kennedy, and Malena). It's possible a few others like Hurd or Walker will start some too. But honestly of that group, only Matthews, Ennis, and Jenkins are even significantly better than backups right now. And by the end of the year, we may exclude Ennis from that.

I don't have a record that is "successful." To me I just want to see the program constantly moving in the right direction.

Wow talk about low expectations. We all have a better chance of winning the lottery than going 0-12.

I was having a little trouble nailing down what would be successful. Here is what I'm thinking.

We have the real shot if being undefeated. As it stands Vegas has us as underdogs in only 2 games. If that plays out then we are looking at 10-2 with a trip to the Cotton, Outback, or Peach. That basically replicates last year, but I don't think that is enough. I think we need to go 11-1 and a trip to a BCS bowl (win or lose).

We only have the best player in college football to go along with a stud OL and stable of backs. However this assumes health for most of the key players and Sumlin not getting poached late in the year.

3 on offense (Matthews, Kennedy, and Malena).

Malcome Kennedy is a RS-Junior. Derel Walker is the senior.

SEC Title/MNC, or one loss at the hands of Bama. Losing to both LSU and Alabama would be an unsuccessful season, imo.

I think matching or improving upon last seasons record would be considered a success. However, if our defense takes a step back I could see us going 9-3 or 8-4.

I think the offense will be more efficient this year, so maybe they can offset whatever potential shortcomings the defense might have.

Ultimately for me, as long as they perform well enough on the field to keep all of the recruits Sumlin has worked hard to get, and that they show progress from the beginning of the season to the end, much like last year, I will be happy.

This is what I expect to happen, but then again our defense performed well above expectations last year.

If we see no regression or even a slight improvement to our defense, then an SEC title is definitely within reach.

I agree with this sentiment. We're only guaranteed to have Johnny for the 2013 season. I believe that, given another successful year, JFF will leave for greener pastures.

Completely agree with this. If the defense can just match last years performance, and get the ball to the offense enough I wouldn't be surprised one bit with an sec title. With key losses at leadership positions on the defensive side of the ball there is obviously a lot of uncertainty, but if they can step up then our greatest expectations are within reach.

Snyder is a HELL of a defensive coordinator. Doesn't get nearly enough credit for last year's success.

This season he will prove why he's one of the best DC's in the nation.

Didn't give up more than 30 points in any SEC game last year. I have complete faith in our ability to score 30 or more points in every single game we play.

Actually, didn't give up more than 29:

20 vs. Florida
10 vs. Arkansas
27 vs. Ole Miss
24 vs. LSU
21 vs. Auburn
13 vs. Mississippi State
24 vs. Alabama
29 vs. Missouri
