How do you see touches being split up between our backs?

With 4 solid RBs all expected to contribute and a QB who runs the ball as much as ours, how do you see our backfield touches being split up? Malena typically got around 15-20 touches in the beef of our schedule last year, and I don't see his decreasing.
C Mike is gone, and I see Carson taking on his short yardage carries, maybe with some help from Malena
As previously stated, Johnny will get his. Though I think he will have more of a pocket presence this year both by design and because defenses will adjust.
I think the Williams' are the X factor and I can't wait to see how we utilize them, especially in the passing game.
It's a good problem to have, I'm just curious to see how those of you who have been able to follow the offseason a little more closely than I see the touches and different backfield roles shaking out.

I really think Malena deserves to see at least half of the touches with the rest split between the other three.
Something like:
Malena 50%
BWill 20%
TWill 20%
Carson 10%
It's a really nice problem to have, you're right. I think the Williams' will probably end up getting a lot of swing passes and things of that nature to make up for the lack of touches.
Gotta say Malena is a very nice surprise. I really didn't think he was starter material but he has really excelled and earned that spot.

I see it as this: Go with the "hot hand".
Right now, Ben Malena is the better blocker of the three.
The concern with Carson is to keep him from becoming a trigger for defensive coordinators that "he's going up the middle". That's why we saw a lot of side to side running from him in the spring game.
In addition, expect to see a lot of lining backs up in the slot.

Malena may play more than the others but no way he gets a touch ratio like that. The split in 2012 was:
Malena - 138
Michael - 88
TWill - 65
Michael missed 2 games and was kicked out of a 3rd. TWill played sparingly at times til late. With all 3 of these guys having a year in the system, I'd be shocked to see Malena have such an extensive role. That's not to knock Malena, just that the others bring different things to the table and are versatile in other ways. Michael never fit this offense.

This is what I'm really looking forward to with Brandon and Trey Williams.

Malena has been awesome. He gets very little respect from people but I think he's a huge part of what we do on offense. He's very well rounded even though he doesn't have the wow factor that Brandon and Trey have

quote:Judging by the splits from last year, I agree with this sentiment. With 3 other backs expected to receive major playing time, it's difficult to picture a scenario absent injuries where Malena receives 1/2 of the carries. I expect that Brandon Williams and Malena will have roughly the same amount of carries for 2013.

Whatever the distribution, Johnny will once again be our team's leading rusher.

Malena is a nice surprise but I think you have to get the ball into t-Wills hands quite a bit

I don't expect Malena to get half the touches, I just think he deserves them.

I think by season's end Brandon Williams will be averaging the most carries per game.

Of our backs in the last 25 years, who would you compare BWill to?

It really depends on the running game and how we utilize the zone read in the hurry up. Without subbing, which RB can be utilized the most with the zone read/traditional option plays? I really think it is Trey Williams/Ben Malena. When we go 4 wide, those are going to be the guys. When we do pistol, red zone, or different substitution packages, I really think we will see Brandon and Tra utilized a lot more. Just how I would approach it, with my limited knowledge of our offense.

I think Trey Williams is going to get even fewer carries this year: with Dustin Harris gone, he should be doing most kick/punt returns (right?). I expect 3-5 carries per game.
Malena and Brandon Williams will probably wind up with a similar number of touches by season's end, with Brandon becoming the premier back.
As good as Tra could be, it's hard to see him getting much playing time. Probably 3-5 cpg.
I think it would be very awesome if we line up in shotgun, one back on Manziel's left and one on the right. This could be used for screens, blocking, even options. Whatever happens, I expect record-breaking offensive numbers.

Goodson at 35%
He is currently playing for the New York Jets, a "professional" football franchise. Hope that helps.

The driver of the vehicle claimed ownership of the gun at the time of the arrest, but New Jersey's finest charged both passengers anyway. Either way, it sounds like this thug POS will be allowed to walk the streets again in no time.
He might have to serve a suspension for marijuana possession, but he won't be cut.

They gave him a really good deal in NY, he better make something of it cause I don't think he will get another shot if this doesn't work out.

As long as all the backs aren't having issues with the Staff. The best back for that drive will be used. Sumlin is about winning games and not appeasing some kids need to touch the ball.
