I've made this thread before, but it was pre-Kyle Field upgrade announcements. Now that we know what we are working with... What can we do to upgrade Spence? Give it nicer bathrooms? Make it technologically savvy? Live bands? Lower the drinking age? How do we make the gameday experience top of the line in every way possible? We need to get people to fill the nosebleeds, and a great tailgating experience is the best way to do that, imo. How can we offer something no one else in the country does?

I liked the pond idea in the middle. That would be pretty unique. They need to level things out a bit with that drainage area. That is always just empty space with no tents. Put a nice community bathroom area in the middle similar to the public bathroom area behind NG. I agree with you this should be the central area of pregame activities.

Maybe set up giant projection screens with pregame on it and even live game action (seriously doubt that would ever happen though).

What is this place? Pics?

Also aesthetics is one thing and atmosphere is another, but to incorporate it together is what you need. Also what helps up out is we are all jammed there together, the more open and spread out it is the less of impact it makes IMO.

I hope y'all would do something to equate, I'd love having another place to go to with similar experience as the grove.

I still think that any body of water is just going to be a giant mosquito pit. Maybe they can work that problem out though...

So... in the Grove, no open flame, no generators, hide your alcohol for some dumb reason, etc.

Well A&M, over by the basketball arena, is sort of the no holds barred area. You can have whatever. Spence, which is right next to the stadium, you can't have generators, and there is no spot for people to bring their awesome giant bbq/trailgating trailers. I sort of prefer Spence. It is quieter, lots of shade, right next to the stadium, and people can't park their giant creations. Only problem is, no generators, but people get buy with marine batteries.

On top of that... there is a ton of room, and it isn't exploited because of drainage, which creates a slope that there is a bridge that goes over it, supposedly since we are lowering the field, it is going to be the location for a retention pond(texags rumors). Iunno. It has a lot of potential, but the costs would be steep I suspect. I would hope that if they put some sort of stage, they could get some sort of permanent electricity out there, and use it for other things. It is hard to plant a bunch of a really old trees, so when you got em, it is a good idea to use em. No idea what the costs associated with it would, but I would like to see something.

that's what the bat cave in the center of the pond would be for.

I prefer drinking indoors with the comfort of AC at Northgate to tailgaiting, but I would like A&M to develop a Grove-style tailgating scene.

However, I will definitely be tailgating on 9/14.

1) no open flame ... correct, have you seen our trees? If you have then you'd know the y were too precious for us to risk burning them down.

2) no generators ... I don't know for sure if this is true or not. I don't personally use one but I believe you can, specially the quiet ones or at least people do and don't care because I have seen them out there before.

3) hide alcohol ... not necessarily true; liquor, wine, etc. (anything above 5%) is okay to have out in the open. It's only beer that isn't *allowed* ... but in reality it is all you have to do is put in a cup and its okay. For some reason beer is illegal on case campus (has something to do with how the county is dry but the city is wet, I've never really understood why ... *blue laws*) also IMO the rule is in place to encourage people to throw the beer cans away in trash cans or keep in their coolers to help in the process of keeping the Grove clean.

Well it sounds if y'all are able to do this it would be pretty cool and offer a nice area to tailgate! When you say shade trees do you mean large oaks or is it something else i.e. mesquite trees???

Here's your problem:

Here's your solution: The Mexican free-tailed bat preys on flying insects, consuming its body weight in mosquitoes and agricultural pests like cutworm and corn borer moths each night.

Problem solved.

Am I the only one that actually likes the bats? Yeah it sucks that they shite all over the stadium and it smells horrible on those humid game days but if they could just be relocated close to the stadium they probably would help with problems like the mosquitoes. I need a couple of those suckers for my house here in SA. It's mosquito heaven down here.

On a scale of 0-10 its probably a 7 and a half. Its bad enough that most visitors mention it and that's a problem.

Is there no way to rid yourselves of the smell without interfering with the bats?
