In all seriousness, I was behind a young couple using one, and they had 2 carts of groceries and probably $1000 cash. It pissed me off. If you're poor enough to need an EBT card, how can you justify buying more groceries than other people.

ETA: some people really need them, I just don't agree with those who abuse them.

I worked in a grocery store for 4 years in college. You can buy anything that is not served in the store hot or pre prepared (i.e. raw shrimp with seasoning already put on it).

Can't buy cigarettes or alcohol but other than that everything is fair game if it's edible.

46.6 million strong in participation.

I was at the Pig a few weeks ago. 2 women, in separate checkouts. Talking to each other, friends. One finishes, pays for a hundred some odd bucks of groceries with an EBT, walks over, and then pays for her friends 100 some odd dollars of groceries with the same EBT card.

By the time I check out, I get outside, and they are loading all their groceries, into about a 2 year old Cadillac Denali.

It's suppose to be illegal to do that directly. Some EBT cards allow for a cash back option tho and they will get the cash back and go buy cigs and alcohol though. Might be what he means

Imagine if you were saving 600-1000 dollars a month, anybody could afford car payment on somethin like that

Probably had a high amount to use on her card, buys her friends groceries with it, receives cash for less from friend, and works for cash, while receiving other benefits also.

Pretty much anything as long as it isn't purchased hot. Frozen pizza, Cheetos, Frosted Flakes, Ben and Jerry's, Hot Pockets, Mountain Dew, candy,etc...all fair game.

So yeah...we are starving 8 year olds at lunch in the name of "health", and then turning around and letting their parents spend hundreds of dollars on junk food every month. Merica, frick yeah.

Americans pay for it twice. Once for the EBT then again later down the road after they develop diabetes and heart disease and can't afford insurance.
