Recent history.
1. Florida-(obvious recent championships in basketball and football with a consistent national contender in baseball)
2. LSU-(baseball and football titles recently, with a recent final four appearance)
I think that these are the only two teams in the recent history to have contenders in all 3 "major" sports.
After that I would say there are teams that have had continued success in their respective sports.
Bama football
South Carolina baseball
Kentucky basketball

Rank the SEC programs overall for the main 3 sports
Well, the first problem with this thread is that there aren't three main sports. There are two main sports.
Also, while it might surprise some of you, college football is not as big of a deal outside of the south and midwest as many of you may think. College basketball is even less of a big deal. So you can probably imagine that pretty much no one outside of Louisiana and South Carolina gives a flying frick about college baseball.
National Television Audiences for National Championship Games:
2012 BCS National Championship Game: 24.2 million viewers
2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Game: 23.4 viewers
Now, I tried to search for college baseball ratings and got nothing. That should tell you something. But I did find this interesting tidbit, from an ESPN article entitled, "No love for HS, college baseball?"
quote:
From college baseball's national championship to the National Hot Rod Association? Nothing against ESPN2, for which I do a show. But can you imagine college football's or basketball's national championship game on ESPN2 followed by drag racing? What, this event doesn't even rate a postgame show?
quote:
Good God, the College World Series can't even compete in the ratings with the Little League World Series! Last summer, "Baseball Tonight" sent its A team -- Peter Gammons, John Kruk, Harold Reynolds -- to analyze the 11- and 12-year-olds!
quote:
College Baseball is Pretty Much a Southern Game
In short, no one gives a frick.

As far as the SEC is concerned:
Football > Baseball > Basketball.
Just look at the top 6 in baseball attendance...all SEC teams. Baseball is more popular in the SEC than basketball.

LSU has won national championships in all three
I didn't realize LSU had won a Final Four. Did LSU win with Shaq, or was it a while ago with Pistol Pete?
From Wikipedia
Schools that claim pre-NCAA Tournament basketball championships [edit]
Many schools claim or recognize pre-tournament era national college basketball championships by virtue of being selected by third-party selectors, such as the Helms Athletic Foundation, including Kansas University,[20] Purdue University,[21] Stanford University,[22] the University of North Carolina,[23] the University of Pittsburgh,[24] the University of Wisonsin,[25] Syracuse University,[26] and Washington State University.[27] In addition, in some years teams won playoff series or tournaments played on the court for a national championship.
For example, LSU claims the 1935 championship by virtue of winning the American Legion Bowl game against Pittsburgh in a match-up of regional powers.[28]
The following table is a partial list of schools that claim a national championship from the pre-NCAA Tournament era of college basketball. See also Helms Athletic Foundation Basketball National Champions. Not all schools recognize national championship honors bestowed by third-party selectors.
Year (pre-1939) School Source
1930 Pittsburgh [48] Naismith Basketball HOF Championship Game, Helms Athletic Foundation
1931 Northwestern Helms Athletic Foundation
1932 Purdue Helms Athletic Foundation
1934 Wyoming Helms Athletic Foundation
1935 LSU [49] American Legion Bowl Game
1936 Notre Dame Helms Athletic Foundation
1937 Stanford Helms Athletic Foundation
1938 Temple Helms Athletic Foundation, NIT
Since there was no NCAA Tournament, no playoffs, no Final Four, and no official National Champion declared, why should we not claim an UNOFFICIAL national championship that OTHER teams had been claiming since 1904 ???????????

It was a Helms Trophy.
Wrong, it was awarded following the 1935 American Legion Bowl Game after the Tigers beat Pitt. The game was actually billed as "The National Championship".
The Helms trophy was awarded retroactively for seasons before 1940.

We don't claim it as a National Championship though.
But y'all sure claim that 1950 football title over Tennessee, don't you?

Not a "final four", a "championship".
Circa 1935.

Early history (1909–1957)
In the days before the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers won a 1935 mythical national championship by winning the American Legion Bowl (one of several mythical championships awarded that year), under head coach Harry Rabenhorst. While this championship is not officially recognized by the NCAA since it did not sanction a tournament, LSU officially claims this championship and displays a banner in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Rabenhorst also led the Tigers to the 1953 Final Four with a team that included future NBA Hall of Famer Bob Pettit. LSU is the only school that officially claims an American Legion Bowl championship.

You are dead on. Not sure why so many on here try to talk down baseball. But in the SEC baseball is much more important than basketball when compared to the rest of the country. I personally don't give a flying frick what the rest of the country likes. The less I have in common with anyone outside of the deep south the better I feel about my life!

Yes, like 1941.*
But NOT like 1925-26.
Get it?
The exact same publication that awarded Alabama the 1941 title awarded LSU the 2011 title. Houlgate.

Take out UK and Arkie and those #'s aren't near as impressive.
Basketball is on a slow decline and COLLEGE Baseball is on an incline.
As of the moment, it's not as big a gap as it used to be IMO
