I meant that the quality of the supporting material (i.e. the books) falls off dramatically in the fourth installment and just barely resuscitates itself in the fifth.
Season 4 will cover the second half of book 3, so there's still some good stuff in store.

I agree completely with you about the 4th book. I sort of half arse read the 5th, even skimmed through some people story lines as they were boring me too much. But I've put so much time into at this point he could take shite and put a cover on it and I would still buy it.
