Exactly. These idiots that think just because the "prestigious SEC" sends an invite to a school, they will automatically drop all there history, rivalries, and oh by the way now have to pay a small fortune to leave. Thinking the ACC is falling apart is simply SEC homers who can't see past "SEC is the best at football. We are awesome and everyone wishes they were us." Which for the ACC, they love basketball far more than football.

Considering the ACC GOR's they would be our best option to get into NC. As I have said in othe threads. If we want 16(NC VA) bad enough we have to add ECU and Old Dominion(despite hating them almost as much as VA Tech) ODU is in VA's recruiting hotbed. Moving up to 1-a and in only a few years of playing made the playoffs last year.

It isnt going to be the SEC these schools run for. Its going to be the B1G, and its going to happen.

I wasn't saying they join us, but just pointing out that they would happily leave VT. They would prolly love for VT to get left behind for the Big East.

Makes sense to me, why have great teams and lose twice a year when you can have average teams and when all your games?

What makes you believe this? They are adding 4 teams, basketball teams. Because they are a basketball conference. And they just added the clause that will cost any team that loses literally a small fortune. I can't remember the exact amount but I do remember it was the ACC's way of making it nearly impossible to leave for at least the next 15 years.

Its saber-rattling. If a team wants out they will just sue the conference and negotiate a settlement.

I dont see whats funny about that, but Im glad you understand how its going to work.

Well damn. It's been one year. If we go by that timeline, what did Auburn do that was so high and mighty?

When you eliminate all ACC schools and Big XII schools, you're left with East Carolina and Cincinnati...or some odd mix of New Mexico and Colorado State. Either that, or we wait out the Big XII land grant crap (5 years on that) and go after either OU and Okie State, or Kansas and K-State....neither which are sure bets to join...
I think the SEC in Cincinnati, OHIO would make Delaney and Gee's butt eternally itch and would likely bring about the return of Urban's, "heart problems"
Also, UConn is still dangling aimelessly. SEC cash might be what they need to revitalize their athletic programs

All it will take is a someone to take the ACC to court and that will be broken easily. Its not going to stop anyone who really wants to leave.
every time somebody says something like this I SMH
You have absolutely no clue how strong those agreements are and to assume its an easy out is asinine.

You're better than this CNB

Yeah, we're not the Big East. Southern schools only.

If the ACC were going to lose any more teams, it would have happened by now...ala Maryland
ACC raiding is done for now...

What is there to sue about? I'm pretty sure agreements like this are written in black and white ink and agreed upon by all or majority of the conference members.
Posted on 5/13/13 at 10:49 am to Dr RC
I'm sure they are pretty strong, but the ACC isn't going to want to spend a shite ton of money defending them. All this does is force the school who wants to leave to pay the conference for their media rights. Its a brilliant move by the conference, but all it does it raise the exit fee for the school.
Posted on 5/13/13 at 10:50 am to undecided
No rebuttal? If we're giving Missouri a one year time frame of their contributions to the conference, what did Auburn do?

The Big 10 definitely wouldn't like it....you might see Vanderbilt and Florida start getting some attention...
