Those are in contrast.

I think the mistake most make in their arguments, is that they try to relate God to justify their own thoughts, deeds or actions. If one chooses to have faith or believe in God, then they have to surrender the belief, that they come first, and God comes second and must fit their narrative of what He should be.

Some of my point there relates to the Jonah story most were taught as a child were god gets Jonah's arse eaten by a fish because he won't follow gods plan. The whole story is focused on god making someone do what he wants he when they don't want to. Why didn't he have a whale eat hitler?
