I love preseason rankings.
The things I love about this one the best are:
your team could lose to UF and LSU the year before,
beat 3-4 ranked teams,
have your best offensive player coming back from last year's team,
lose several of your best defenders...
and be ranked somewhere between 2 or 7 and still ahead of UF and LSU.
Preseason rankings are awesome!

Oh look, texas found their way into this ranking as well....I'm shocked.
Atleast So Cal didn't get their token nod.

On #6 Oregon:
[quote] Any concerns that Oregon would change appreciably after Chip Kelly handed off to Mark Helfrich were put to rest when the Ducks' offense quickly racked up 802 yards in the spring game.

However, questions about their defense were quietly ignored.

Picking Alabama and A&M as your top two is a fairly smart way of hedging your bets if you are a writer in the business of ranking teams. Both teams have essentially two real games all year - even if they win only one of the two they still may have an inside track on making teh SEC CCG and BCS NCG

quote:
Kouandjio is set at left tackle and Kelly is set at center, but the other three spots are open. One probably will go to Steen, who started at right guard last year but could wind up moving to left guard this season. Arie Kouandjio, the older brother of Cyrus, is in the mix for a guard spot along with Austin Shepherd and Chad Lindsay. Juco transfer Leon Brown and freshman Brandon Hill are competing at right tackle.
The only thing correct in that whole blurb is Cyrus Kouandjio will be the LT.

Thoughts:
-LOL at the Stanford hate. They would wax dat arse of almost all SEC teams. The top 6 could give em a game, but only Bama and A&M could beat them IMO. Shaw doesn't get enough credit out West.
-I'm curious how OSU does next year. Regardless Meyer will have them competing for NCs very shortly.
-If it wasn't for the NC debacle the ND ranking would be about right. That team was a year, maybe two ahead of schedule last year. Their DL will be beastly this year, and the offense should improve.
-Call it a homer, but I think South Carolina is a little high. I actually think he hit the nail on the head with the Lattimore loss not being that big given that they've never had him for a full season. I know the DL will still be very good, but the back 7 loses a TON and their back 7 never seems to get the credit it deserves. It's been bigtime the last 3 years.
Don't care about whoever is outside the top 10.
