There is great irony in one of the longtime members of the Big Eight preaching to the SEC about having a bunch of bottom feeding schools who suck balls.
I was an OU fan as a kid (born there, bandwagon, dumb kid) and what he described was the Big Eight in the 70s and 80s. That conference was absolutely awful after Nebraska and Oklahoma save the occasional halfway decent Mizzou or Colorado team.

When you have a conference with 6 or 7 of the best teams in the country and in that conference each team play 8 confernce games you are bound to have some of those teams with worse records than you would normally.
