I'm sure there is a difference in never winning one, and being too young to remember when your team did. But I haven't figured it out yet, since we haven't won.

Missouri was decent in the Big 12, but I see them as perennial bottom feeders of the SEC in football. Every league needs a few

Have we finished last in any sport this year? Just a question. Football was bad, and BBall was not what we wanted. Baseball, well we all knew we were F from the start. Track and field we knew we had a huge learning curve as well. I don't mind the hate because we are the new kids, and we need to step up our game, but this stuff doesn't happen over night. We are putting in 200 Million in AD for upgrades. I know you guys spend that every other year in your up grades. Again gives us time.

Really? Did not know you had that power?
OP:
As for vast majority of Mizzou fans, they have no regrets about moving to SEC. We may regret a poor season, but this conference change was not based on, "How will our teams perform, but rather what are the opportunities?"

The SEC took a bbq rib from Arky..and made Mizz SEC..so that Arky wouldn't have to ride the small bus alone..
It's a biblical concept.

I think so. I have no problem with them being in the SEC.

For me it goes to the notion that everyone thinks the SEC is overrated. The fans and Sheldon's ( ) comments didn't help. Mizzou had a lot to prove but the other teams in the SEC had a lot to lose if they ran through us. Now that the fans have been humbled like a frick, less arrogance and more humility will take them further this season.

This was pretty much it for me too. They came in so arrogant especially at SEC Media Days. I think now they have a small taste of what it is like to play in the SEC week in and week out, especially in football. They should have come in with the attitude that A&M did. (We know we have an uphill climb but are ready for the challenge) instead of "People act like we've been playing a bunch of high school teams."

A&M moved in with the right attitude. With a big middle-finger salute towards Austin, the Aggies swaggered into the conference knowing they had finally arrived where they should have been all along. Their instant success in SEC sports proves they were a sleeping giant - similar to Florida's awakening in the '90s.
You started well with this, but you made the point for the wrong reason.
The attitude that we brought to the SEC was that we would have to toughen up quickly to prove we belonged. That drove everything from the offseason workouts to the conditioning program to the playcalling mindset.
Coach Sumlin STILL pushes the mindset that we have a ways to go. During the Spring Game, when asked about the success by Kirk Herbstreit, he said something to the effect of, "That's great, but we still only finished third in the west"

Even if Mizzou gets better in football... I don't think they'll fit in. My thing is the geography, yes I know the SEC is changing but I'm use to certain states being in the SEC, Mizzou's location makes them more like a Big 12 or Big Ten teams.
Texas A&M or any team from Texas would fit in the SEC. Well except for Texas Tech, kinda waaay out there.

I strongly disagree with this. A&M is pretty much the only school in Texas that fits in with the SEC culturally.

Not until we find a coach that can coach/recruit in the SEC. Maybe Pinkel finds that coach within himself(it wasn't there last year), but I doubt he can. We may very well end up 5-7 again this year but it might be a "prettier" 5-7?
As long as the players stay healthy thru spring Mizzou should finish better. Not much they can do with an banged up OL, banged up QB which commentators even said the injury was affecting his throwing, planting, etc. RB Josey was out the whole year, he was a beast in 2011. Going a bunch of 3 and outs will wear on any teams defense and it showed vs Bama, UGA(4th qtr), A&M, and South Carolina.

My original stance was neutral based on these points :
a) Can they deliver Saint Louis and Kansas City?
So far this is a no but that will not happen overnight
b) Will interaction be more like the Cocks or the Hogs?
Sadly, so far they are more like the Hogs bluster than the Cocks under the radar approach
c) Will they maintain the AAU status?
AAU has canned Syracuse and Nebraska so Mizzou is not in a safe position. Adding Maryland and and Rutgers gives the B1G a sizable chunk of the roughly 60 votes (remember Chicago was a former B1G member and still maintains ties with the CIC) if they want to discredit the SEC by booting one of their 4 schools. Of the 4 SEC AAU schools TAMU, VU, and UF are all in a much better position to maintain membership. While this is not probable, I hold the strong belief that while Delany is not Satan, he is probably at least one of the lesser imp's or demons and believe such pettiness is in his dirty bag of tricks.
d) Will they add a SEC sport to the SEC's collection of trophies?
Tiger overconfidence on football has been dispelled after a season of OMF in the SEC. Baseball is not a probable sport either. SEC does not have wrestling and Mizzou is no threat in rifle or bowling. Not sure Mizzou is any real threat in any of the minor non broadcast sports.
This only leaves M basketball, W basketball, and softball. W basketball appears to be a non starter and M basketball does not have a solid traveling fan base and they are a study in futility in the NCAA tourney where the SEC needs more media presence to support current Cat and Gator exposure. This leaves only softball so lets hope Mizzou can at least get to the WCWS (TAMU is a recent winner in W basketball and has solid T&F) based on current NCAA rank :
Top 25 teams
2 Florida
5 Alabama
6 Tennessee
7 Louisiana State
14 Kentucky
15 Missouri
17 Texas A&M
25 Mississippi State
Remaining SEC teams current rank
29 Arkansas
35 Georgia
48 South Carolina
64 Auburn
65 Ole Miss
NR Vanderbilt - has bowling and lacrosse in place of softball
SEC softball tourney is in Lexington this season so lets hope Mizzou (UK is one of the closest SEC schools to Columbia, MO) brings more fans than they did to Rupp for the Men's NCAA tournament.

I see Texas, Iowa State, and Kansas as more likely to lose their AAU status, based simply on association.
Posted on 4/25/13 at 8:12 am to CGSC Lobotomy
B12 is not a threat to the B1G like the SEC is and B1G may want KU at some point so why dust anything up? Iowa is in the B1G and my guess is they would catch hell for state funding if they tried to boot ISU from the AAU.
If Delany can not beat the SEC I can see him pulling one of the following to devalue non football SEC sports and academics :
a) add Kansas to hobble SEC basketball value
b) discredit MU's AAU status
c) have the NCAA attack coach Cal
d) push for more recognition of sports the SEC does not compete in like Ice Hockey and Lacrosse
