Spurrier to Richt "What in the world got into your team that day?"

Richt had a better answer than I did for that question. I went with "What? Besides Clowney's Cock?"

Certainly the fans helped and that was literally THE loudest I'd ever heard WB. But really we could have played y'all in Russia or the moon and still would have won. But its certainly a better answer than saying the techno music (sandstorm) was too distracting, like some of your fanbase likes to say. (looking at you deeprig)

that game is up there on the list of loudest games. the whole place was electric from start to finish.
the Ole Miss game in 2009 is another loud one.
your avi is messed up btw

The Billy Brice is loud when we're playin' ... as the Joe Mo sayin' used to go, "if it ain't swayin', we ain't playin'."
I can think of plenty of games where it has been just as loud.
Off the top of my head ...
vs Clemson in '75, '77 and '79.
vs So Cal in '83.
vs Georgia, Pitt and FSU in '84.
vs Georgia in '88.
Bama in 2001 and 2010.
vs Clemson in 2011.
Georgia in 2012.
That Ole Miss game in '09? You're talking about the Thursday night game in the rain with Erin Andrews walking the sidelines? They came in ranked like #4 or something? I didn't think it was that loud that night.
Anyways, they were all loud games at The Billy Brice. When the Gamecocks are playin' The Cock Pit is as tough a place to play as there is in the country.

I don't remember it raining but yeah, it was a Thursday night game. I was in the student section so that probably adds a lot to the noise that I remember.

I might have the Kentucky in '07 game and the Ole Miss game in '09, both of them on Thursday nights ... I may have those two games confused. I know Kentucky came in ranked like #6 and Ole Miss was ranked #4 and we beat them both at home on Thursday nights. Maybe it was the Kentucky game, come to think of it, where it was raining - my memory is slipping these days.

09 Ole Miss game was the first time we played Sandstorm I believe. We were up 16-10 in the 4th when they were driving towards the student section endzone. Here's a clip of the last 2 minutes in the game when we stopped them. LINK I wasn't at the game but I know it was one of the loudest in recent memory. In my post above I meant this past Georgia game was the loudest I'd been at. After that its 2010 Bama, 2011 Clemson, or 2004 Auburn.

Nosir ... first time we played Sandstorm was long before that. It was October of 2006 vs Kentucky the week after we lost that close game on a Thursday night to Auburn where Spurrier was pissed because we applauded the loss.
Jack Bailey, who was in charge of the audio/video feed the next week for the Kentucky game, decided to run Sandstorm just to see how the crowd reacted and, as they say, the rest is history.

There have been tons of loud games. One that a lot of people forget is 2001 against UF, because they killed us. However, when they fumbled that punt early on, I thought my ears were going to explode. Unreal that night early in the game.

The '09 Ole Miss game was the loudest I recalled, but the '12 UGA game topped that.

except Sandstorm didn't become a mainstay until after the 09 ole miss game. That game is when Sandstorm became so popular.

Okay, so was the question when Sandstorm became a "mainstay," or when it was first played? I'm confused because I thought I answered the question based upon the phrase, "first played." I could be wrong.
With regard to when it became a "mainstay," I do believe that is also debatable since it was played at least a dozen times before that '09 Ole Miss game on Thursday night. It actually became a "mainstay" (sic), imho if you will, in 2008 in the opener against NC State when ESPN first made note of it and played it without commentary.

First time I remember it is 08 LSU.

Well he said first time it was played but I can understand why people think it was the ole miss game.
And by mainstay I meant that people were aware of it and it became played at least twice a game. Before the ole miss game it wasn't nearly as big a deal as it was after

Same here. Just a coincidence that the student section had towels that game?

That wasn't my conspiracy. I like it though.
I was at that game, in the cheap seats. There were moments when I feared for my life the stadium was going to collapse. I also feared for my life walking down the street back to my car for the long drive back to Athens.

What's the name of that main drag that runs back into town? Columbia needs to step up some police presence on that road.
