I don't think it was the recruited DT that were a bust. I think Chizik's DL coach hire to replace Rocker was the bust.

LSU has had and will continue to have the best front 4 of any team in the conference/nation.

Not this year

We were 11th in the country with 38 sacks which ranks 2nd in the SEC and we bring a lot back. Oh and turns out we signed a few good defensive linemen.

I'd say we deserve to be considered in the top 4 in the SEC.

I wasn't even talking shite about LSU. There just won't be a DL better than South Carolina.

Is Ray Drew gonna be used as a Jack LB or the DE in the 3-4?

Hands Down, South Carolina

Kelcy Quarles (suspended for throwing a punch at LSU center) returns. LINK 23 tackles, 15 assists, 3.5 sacks.

JT Surratt 4th year junior, recorded 14 tackles last year as a backup. LINK

Gerald Dixon, 3rd year soph, limited playing time behind Clowney and Sutton at DE, but a freak in his own right nonetheless. LINK

Edit to Add Chaz Sutton- LINK

Jadaveon Clowney.

We'll have a good DL but I wouldn't say the top one in the sec. That's some pretty bold words. I'll predict between 3rd-6th

But you think Garner is a badass because he's on the Gus Bus now? Drop off the key Lee.

1b. LSU- There's so much talent but it's inexperienced. Ego Ferguson, Anthony Johnson, Danielle Hunter,Jermauria Rasco, Jordan Allen and Frank Herron are gonna be green but extremely talented.

You could say the exact same thing about Georgia. Freak talent, let's see how they do.

Only thing is UGA runs a 3-4 D and LSU a 4-3. D-line much more highlighted in a 4-3

Bama has former 2 star Brandon Ivory returning at NG and although he's huge at around 330 I'm not sure that he'll be the force we are used to in the middle.

At DE we return a starter in Ed Stinson who is more than capable for a 3-4 end and we have a ton of blue chip ends vying for playing time so as long as the NG works out Bama will again be stout at DL.

I am a little worried though until I see the new guys in actual game situations. Having the nations best LB corp behind them helps but if the line can't hold the blocks then there is only so much they can do.

The only question mark on South Carolina's DL is that their coach went to Florida.

It will be REALLY baffling when Ole Miss loses to LSU 62-10.

Copy/paste from the other thread b/c I am lazy:

If Ivory and Paige can be the road blocks like is being reported we should be alright in the middle. Our biggest question(s) is can Pagan and Hubbard make the impact that their abilities should allow them too.

Also, Jonathan Allen will push seriously for PT at the Jack position and should he come into his own, he could be the pass rushing terror that we have been lacking.
