The Mizzou to Big Ten thing had been rumored since Penn State joined the B1Gand the Big 8/12 thing.
For many of us it was understood that if a move was ever going to be made, that was it.
Once Nubby came in and got the spot there was a desperation for many. Realizing there's a chance we'd be stuck getting raped by Bevo for the foreseeable future, or worse, out in the cold with the kansas crew and ISU.
The excitement from everyone I know's end when it came to the SEC was amplified by the events of the two decades prior not working in our favor.
I'm confident that three years ago getting a Mizzou fan to say they preferred moving to the SEC versus the Big 10 if a move had to be made would be damn near impossible. Especially if they lived north of Springfield.
It wasn't even on the radar. If it was, I think you'd have still been pretty hard pressed to find one.
Revisionist history is what is is, but I'm confident saying we were the first major conference realignment school that wasn't exactly expected to move where it did.

From what I understand back in the day South Carolina was a surprise.
I guess I don't get it because I saw Missouri as a much better option than say a West Virginia, a Maryland, or an Oklahoma State.
