This is older than old on this site, but this is the lure I've never been able to not bite.
Don't forget that over 30,000 Union troops that came from St. Louis were foreign born. Thousands of other Union troops throughout Missouri were also foreign born.
And 40k Confederate is a very low ball number, I've seen sites with over 50k reported. Also, Missouri is the state known most for unofficial Confederate participants.
We have a 17 county region that is called Little Dixie, which doesn't count the Ozarks which is more southern than many parts of the real south.
It was a divided state, I know you think its a major jimmy rustling topic but its getting pretty old.. time to just be real about it.

Why would you want to be considered part of the Confederacy? It's not like it's some kind of badgee of honor, unless maybe you're some uneducated idiot on a college football forum
