Anybody have hulu? What's different with hulu vs netflix?

I think Hulu shows current shows. Netflix shows past seasons.

Why would someone pay $8 a month to watch shows that are currently airing?

A lot of folks use it that don't want to put up an antenna and don't have cable or satellite.

Well, I'm ready to dump the cable carrier here. What's the word on Dish Networks new internet?

FWIW, I have both Hulu and Netflix. Hulu is good for people like me who are rarely able to see shows when they air or want to see previous episodes at their convenience. They do not generally deal in movies except a few things that you've likely never heard of. Honestly, I don't use Hulu that often; mainly when some of the shows that I watch are in-season. Right now, it's doing me little good.
Netflix has old TV shows (or just off-air) and relatively dated movies. Sometimes, they get some new release stuff, but not often. Still worth it for when you're sitting around the house and find yourself bored. They also have the Netflix Kids selection which we use extensively with our 5-year-old. When he watches TV, it's almost exclusively kids shows from Netflix.

We used to have a Hulu Premium subscription, but the constant buffering and crashing was too much so we canceled. We have Netflix subscription and it works great. We watched the entire series of Lost on it last summer, which was awesome. My 2 year old watches a lot of the kids shows, too.

Its still the same, AlaCowboy. Was wildblu then exceed...dish just bought the company and the right to slap their name on it. low data caps and unreliable signal strength and speed.

I like Hulu, but it seems like more and more of the things I want to watch require the premium subscription, and I'm all about the free shite. They do stockpile a lot of past seasons of certain TV shows which is pretty cool though. I get my Hell's Kitchen fix there. I haven't used Netflix a lot because you have to subscribe.

Thanks for that update DawgHolliday. I'll skip Dish for a while.
I'm on a rural telephone co-op that has the monopoly on phone, cable and internet and the price is high, the customer service is awful, and the cable selection is garbage unless I buy the top premium package.
They're upgrading to fiber optics buried lines but are still at least a year away from my country road.
Verizon is supposed to be bringing their FIOS system here soon. They're on the other side of the county now and supposed to be coming this way. I'll check that out when it's available here.
My daughter in East Atlants dumped cable and internet and Bellsouth and uses Hulu, but they seldom watched TV anyway. They have cable and internet at their place up on Lake Blue Ridge mainly for football and they sometimes spend the summer there and work from home on the net.

I may work for that same rural company you speak of AlaCowboy. Much of what you said reminds me of my job and we do service a small portion of Alabama.
