I want to buy a gun. Most likely a small handgun. What is a good type of small handgun for a female to carry? I don't want anything too big. I need something that is kinda small and that is easy to shoot and handle for someone with small hands. Any suggestions?

Glock 19 9mm
I am currently loaning mine to my grandmother... Her 1911 Colt 45 was too heavy for her.
She likes it a lot.

If you've never shot handguns before go with a small caliber. I'd recommend a .22 just because its not to loud to go out and have fun shooting without hearing bells forever and cheap enough you can shoot a lot until you get comfortable with working the gun and learning how to shoot it.

I have shot shotguns and rifles before. I have never shot a handgun.
I like that Glock 9mm too.

Not trying to be your dad, just remember the shorter the barrel, the easier to frick up by accident.

Do you think that a revolver or a semi automatic is better?

A revolver is safer, in terms of handling, and carrying around.

Go to a good gun store and talk to someone there. It's like driving a car. What works well and sits well in your hand varies from person to person, and you won't know until you get the feel of it. You can't shoot a gun very well that doesn't feel right in your hands either.

I wouldn't use a revolver for a paperweight. If you ever need to shoot someone it could take 6 rounds just to calm down enough to get metal on meat.. semi-auto all the way.

Beretta Px4
Sub-compact is tiny, but still carries 13 rounds. You could also look at the compact or full sized if you are fine carrying a normal sized pistol.
Ruger LC380
Another little sub-compact.

They also have much, much heavier trigger pulls and you only get 5 or 6 shots.
A Glock .40 or .45 sub-compact is a better choice for self-defense purposes IMO. More stopping power, more shots, very light trigger pull, and no exterior safety to deal with.

This is what I was thinking. I'm probably going to get my brother to go with me and help me pick one out. I mainly want one that isn't extremely heavy or big (can fit in my purse), and is easier for someone with smaller hands to handle.
I'm thinking that I like the semi automatics better than the revolvers. I just need to do some research and see what I really want.

I like the 380 Bodyguard.
I'm basing this on looks alone though.
