While I hate losing Prado I'm pretty excited about the lineup. How would you put it together?

I know I'd bat Uggla in 8th.

Losing Prado will stink, but for this year only. He is in a contract year and probably would have played well to get a good pay day next year, but the Braves would not have resigned him after 2013.

In the Uptons and Heyward you have an outfield locked down for years to come and ALOT of pop up and down that lineup.

I think Chris Johnson will be serviceable at 3rd, but I think the prospects waiting in the wings for that position are STUDS and will prove so before the season is out IMHO.

All in all I LOVE this trade for the Braves! Should be the team to beat in the East.

I agree its it a good trade with Prado being a free agent after the season.

I'm gonna go with what Matt Chernoff's lineup looks like:

Simmons
Johnson
Heyward
J Upton
Freeman
BJ Upton
MCcann

Uggla
Pitcher

3-7 is murderers row. Could be 3-8 if Uggla would get his shite together.

Definitely a smart long-run move. Prado was a beast no doubt, but he's also a FA after next season and is now asking for more than the Braves will offer.Three years of J Upton will bring much more to the Braves than Prado in one.

Yes, everyone loves him but he wouldn't be around for more than a year. Damn good player but we'll be a better team. I thought we would have to unload Teheran to get Upton.

HEAVY price to pay...Prado has essentially been the team MVP the last 2 years. At the end of the day it's about economics...Damn, when are the Braves gonna get a REAL TV contract! Think thay have 14 years to go on perhaps the worst TV deal in sports history.

Do the braves have the most African Americans than any team in MLB?

If Fredi has any sense, which I'm not convinced he does so far, he won't bat BJ and all of his Ks in the 2 hole.

Simmons
JHey
JUp
Freddie
BJ
BMac
Johnson/Francisco
Struggla

I love Prado just as much as the next guy but holy shite, you would have thought the dude was an MVP level player with some of the responses in this thread.

He was going to walk away and leave us with NOTHING except for a shitty compensation pick after the season because there was absolutely no chance of resigning him. Yes, he was the ultimate utility man but there is absolutely no way he is worth holding onto just for sentimental value

Upton is guaranteed to be here for at least 3 seasons and has unlimited potential because he is still just 25 years old.

I totally agree. I think this lineup will take the pressure off of Uggla (Struggla ) and he'll finally deliver what we all thought he would.

Agree. I liked Prado, but he wanted too much $$$. Being able to unload him in exchange for Upton while keeping Teheran and Gilmartin (among others like Wood and Graham) is HUGE for us.

I admit I know nothing about Johnson though, he might as well be the Titans' RB as far as I know. Is he any good? At least serviceable until Drury or Salcedo turn the corner or we can move Ahmed over perhaps...

Bro drury and Ahmed were in the trade. Drury in particular was moved to first so would not have mattered. Ahmed profiled as a second baseman with his stellar defense but lack of a bat. Banking on salcedo is not going to cut it. I would love a trade bringing back Olt from the rangers

I completely missed Ahmed in it and misread Drury's name. My bad. Ahmed had a cannon of an arm though, I think he could make a decent 3B.

I am not high on any of our 3rd base prospects was the point I was getting at though. It needs to be a high priority in the next draft and/or we need to make some trades or moves in FA to try to get someone.
