I gave credit to Ray. But it hit me tonight and wanted to send this thought out...
Could this year have been the year MSU won the SEC with Stansbury?
The line up would have been different and we know the SEC is have a very down year.

With Stans coaching we would probably have zero wins with this team. Ray is head and shoulders a better x's o's/court coach than Stans.

I don't believe it would have been the same team. I believe pollard and hood would be on this team.
Again, just a thought.

Hood was gone in January. Ray nearly got him to stay but it was too late in the game.

You saw what he did last year with Hood plus Dee, Bryant, Moultrie, and Sidney.

I don't think so....talent will only get you so far in college sports, the other factors are luck (which we historically do not have) and coaching (again we have lacked in this area for a while)

You do realize Stans won an SEC title and two SEC tourneys and made 6 trips to the dance.
Don't act like the guy didn't know anything about basketball.
Coaching wasn't the issue last year, it was team chemistry and discipline.

No way Hood would have given Stans a second chance. No way.

and This is why he bounced. I wish he would've stayed, but imagine watching that meltdown with Sidney from his POV.

Are you suggesting that somehow team discipline doesn't fall squarely on the head coach's shoulders? Stansbury let those guys do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted.

That's not the coach's fault?

Including when they were playing basketball

If Stansbury was even a little bit of a disciplinarian we would have Rodney Hood and Romero Osby
The SEC is so down this year, we would have a great shot at winning it with those two...frick.

Osby would have been a senior last year.

Oh yeah...you're right. Still sucks to see him excelling.

Yes but I am talking about X's and O's Stans wasn't a terrible coach like some of you think he was. If so he sure won a lot of games to be such a terrible coach.
His coaching job at Bama in 2004 ranks as one of the all time best in his career right there with the 4 wins in 4 days to win the SEC tourney over Tennessee.
ETA: IF anybody hates on our 20 point comeback AT Bama in 2004 you are clearly insane. It was a well played and coached game by Stans, our staff, and our team.
