Saban benefits from the BCS format

What Saban has done is more impressive than what the Bear accomplished. Two things Saban has to deal with now the Bryant didn’t are:

• Scholarship limits. Back in the days of the Bear a team basically had an unlimited number of scholarships. Teams like Alabama would sign good players just so they wouldn’t go to another team and develop.

• Players leaving early for the NFL. Bear didn’t have to deal with that.

Give Saban credit where credit is due in that at Alabama, he is the very best coach out there. However, the only drawback for Bama Fans is who replaces him when he retires (which I think it will be 5 years or less)?

Saban has set the bar to unrealistic heights and Bama Fans will not be very patient of the next 3-4 coaches.

Quality post.

I agree. Alabama's FB program is firing on all cylinders.

The next few coaches they get when Saban retires will have a difficult time keeping expectations in check.
