Well I have been reduced to doing almost nothing by Dr orders. For 2 weeks anyway. Bursitis in my hip with a possible ligament tear. Will know more Monday. I don't think anything is tore and that is worst case scenario though. If nothing is torn and I still have pain after the two weeks is up then off to the ortho for the shot.
dang that's not good. being injured and wanting to workout but can't really, really sucks

Well I ran a 10k this morning and got even closer to the 6 minute mark. ran the first mile at a 6:11 pace. Then for the whole 10k my pace was officially timed at 7:02 per mile. Good enough for 5th in my age division and 52nd overall.
The mile time and the 10k times are both best times for me. blew my old 10k record of 8:12 per mile out of the water

What age division? (And I couldn't run that fast when I was in my teens, twenties, or thirties)
Posted on 5/2/15 at 3:07 pm to hawgfaninc
Aren't you in your twenties?
Meh.
Assuming I have time I'm probably going to be all over this thread from now until Oct. I'm getting pumped over the spartan.

There were guys in their 40's and 50's ahead of me.
Guy who finished 4th overall in the 10k was 51 and had a pace of 5:55 per mile. The oldest man that finished ahead of me was 53 and the oldest woman was 41.
Gonna try my damndest to be on their level when I get to that age.

the good: ran 4 miles in the rain today
the bad: it was lightning

Motivation to run faster
And until you can stretch that 4 miles into 75 minutes, your doing it wrong

Anyone checked out the App "Free Letics"?
Pretty good stuff for when you don't have a gym around. I'm finally going back to California to get my road bike after moving to STL. Just in time for murderous heat and humidity but should help me get back down to my playing weight.
Heavy beers and STL winter were not good for me but I have gotten my bench up to repping 225 about 10 times. Better than a lot of dudes at the combine right?
Working to get back on the clean diet train, that one is tough for me because I love IPAs. Holding them to about 1 day a week though and losing weight fast.

This shite is just unfathomable for me. Running is so painful for me. I've been getting back into it since it warmed up and I don't have my road bike but jesus it sucks.
My dad was a pretty badass runner too, I don't get it. It kills me to run anything over 3 miles or so. Brutal pain in my lower legs even after I've been doing it for a month or two. Totally kills my speed as well. I'm 26 and it feels like I'm 65 trying to run. For real.
Anxious to get back on the bike, I really enjoy long road rides.
