I think it's pretty clear that Mullen has to hit a home-run in filling these voids. In Wilson and Smith, we lose two of our best recruiters and must replace with the same or higher caliber.

Per 247, these are a few names that have been/will be thrown around:

CB Coach:

Fred Smoot
Deshea Townsend--former Bama CB and Arizona Cardinals Asst. CB coach

DL Coach:

*HIRED* David Turner

I still think we will see some moves on the offensive side of the ball as well, but we will wait until that becomes official.

I will update as more names pop-up.

Tim Cross is rumored to be in line for an interview for the DL job on Sunday. Tim worked with Brew at Minnesota from 2007-2010 where he served as the DL coach. He is currently on the staff at Texas.

I think Smoot could be a homerun hire recruiting wise and he should be able to help DB's.

DL wise Rumph has a good background but would he leave Bama for us? David Turner did good while being here so that would be decent. Deljuan coached the DL at NEMCC so he coached Hooks. That's always a big help.

I couldn't find much background info on him. What is his position at Texas.

I'm not sure. PJ just said that he is currently on staff there. He also mentioned that he is very solid recruiter, so he may serve as a recruiting coordinator or something.

ETA: Cross serves as an assistant on the UT strength and conditioning staff. Meh. That really doesn't appease me.

That's always a plus.

What all have you heard about the Rumph guy from Bama?

Just that his name may surface in the search. I don't see there being mutual interest there. I can't see him leaving Bama.

Same here. Especially for the same position.

Found this video of Cross. Seems a lot like Brew with the hyperness.

Phuck it, Grinders. Let's get Smoot and Cross and get our swagg back. That was probably our biggest problem this season as childish and stupid as it sounds.

You guys need to go after Smoot. I think he would be a great coach and would be a great recruiter. He would be able to relate to the kids and tell them how going to MSU changed his life.

I hope not. Don't get me wrong, I love Brew, but I don't think he needs to be OC unless we are abandoning the spread offense. I'm willing to name him Head Recruiting Coordinator, WR Coach, or any other title and give him a significant pay raise, but I don't want him calling the plays. I want a young, innovative play caller who knows the spread offense and knows how to utilize it in order to be successful.

I watch aTm, Oregon, OM, etc. run the spread offense, and it's nearly the exact opposite of what we run as the "spread."

I would like to see Brew get a shot if he is willing to learn the offense. Tho I would love to see a young, innovative offensive mind too.

Fugg it. Kelly calls plays for Oregon. Let Merlin's hire a special teams guy that can recruit his arse off and tell Dan to MTFU with our offense.
