here's that osu/illinois ending, really the only noteworthy part is towards the end of the video when Illinois has it in OT.

it's not near as egregious now that I watch it 10 years later, but you can still make an argument. The ref said the WR was bobbling the ball, which he was at first. But by the time he securely has a hold on the ball his left foot is in the endzone. I think it should've been a TD.

I think a better comparison is the 1996 Nebraksa vs. Florida game. Most smart people were picking Nebraska to win big because Florida wasn't expected to stop the run.
Nebraska won big because Florida couldn't stop the run.

Ummm...not even close. That 95 UF team, at the time, was the best in their school history and they basically breezed through their schedule. That 95 Nebraska team IS the greatest team of all time and curb stomped everybody. That game is in no way similar to this one.

I want bama to win beucase i want Saban to leave and I think if he wins he levaes and goes to the NFL.
but I think ND will win the game. it's not a good match up for bama. ND doesn't beat themselves. The defense is lights out and bama's offense if you can shut down the run is pretty shitty.
ND's weakness, bama can't take advantage of (secondary)
final score, ND 17, bama 13

I think the refs will play a major role in who wins this game. In that case, I find your comparison to the 2002 game between Miami-OSU, and this one very interesting.

If that happens, I'll need to find an aggie and borrow his jar.

That was not the greatest team of all time.
Florida dominated their regular season in about the same fashion as Nebraska with arguably a more difficult schedule.
There were a lot of ignorant people claiming that Florida would win. Sports Illustrated picked Florida to win. If you knew anything about football, you knew that the Florida D-Line wasn't going to stand up to the Nebraska grind. For one quarter, some people still thought it was going to be a game...

I see this game as similar to that '95 game. Nebraska ground Florida's D into dust. Bama's OL will do much the same to ND's defense. Once Bama wears down ND and starts reeling off consistent 5-7 yard runs, then that opens up play action to Bama's deep threat receivers.
I'll say it again, the Irish have not seen any OL that compares with Bama's just as Florida had not seen the likes of Nebraska's OL in '95.
