Never , in the history of the BCS , has who you lost too counted for more than who you beat. If it did then UF would've been sitting at home in 06 when you lost Auburn and Michigan lost to Ohio state , by three points.
Last year selection has literally never happens. The eyeball test was used.

06 Auburn finished 11-2 and #8.
11 Iowa St finished 6-7 and unranked.
One of these isn't like the other.

Auburn was a hell of a team in '06. 11-2 with a Cotton Bowl win. Maybe I midread your post. Don't understand how Auburn '06 is similar to '11 Iowa State.
