Your sig pic sucks.
Big 12 would get smoked head to head by the SEC. Eye test, bammers will tell you all about it.

Sagarin gives greater weight to pure wins and loses, doesn't it? Since they only have one or two real teams, they don't beat up on each other.

For some reason, Sagarin always leans too hard on the suck teams. Big XII only had one awful team this year, Kansas. The SEC had three: Kentucky, Auburn, and Arkansas. That's why his rankings are the way they are.
From the top-down, though, it's a no-brainer. Big XII had three teams with 8 or more wins. The SEC had eight to include six with 10 or more wins. Sick.

It weights the teams like this:
1-2-3-4-5-5-4-3-2-1.
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
Meaning K-State accounts for 1/30th of the formula for determining the Big 12's strength, and Alabama accounts for 1/56th of the SEC's strength. I swear its like people can't spend 5 minutes reading this crap.

No. It has to with a dumb statistical bias.

It actually doesn't have to do with the weighting you describe. He does it weighted, unweighted, and with a "removed bad teams" method.
The problem is Sagarin, like many staticians, doesn't understand what he is modeling well enough to construct a competent model.

Been saying this all year - SEC is stronger at the top, but is weaker at the bottom. You can thank Ark, Aub, UK, Tenn, & Mizz for this. 5 conference wins between them. Just think if the SEC played 9 conf games - it could have been worse.

The Big12 dropped 2 bottom feeders and picked up much better teams while we had to some how carry their load. It was just too much weight for the conference to support.....

Did the Big 12 even have a significant OOC win this year? I know ND crushed Oklahoma. Kansas State over Miami? Texas over Ole Miss?
