Is this message board fodder, or has JGT or someone else tweeted this?

We know DC can recruit, but what do we think about him as a coach? I know he has WR coaching experience, but do we know how successful he was? Please tell me he isn't the kind of guy to be buddy buddy with the football players.

Good grief. There is nothing wrong with being buddy buddy. I assume you're saying you hope he's not like trooper? Because it was all troopers fault that we were soft because of his attitude?

It isn't message board fodder, but I'm not sure how serious he is about coming. He could just be looking for more money out of FSU.

They are talking about on FSU boards and they seemed pretty pissed about the thought of him leaving.

Not saying coaches can't care for their players. But let's face it. AU has gotten soft mentally and physically. This was apparent this past season. And we need coaches who are going to keep the players in line.

Players have said that Gus Malzahn is the type of coach to really care about the players and have a relationship with them that extends beyond the football field. I have no problem with that as long as they still respect and fear him as their HC. That is what got us in trouble with the last coaching staff. They allowed the inmates to run the asylum until it was too late.

the whole coaching staff was responsible for that. Being buddies with players is not necessarily a bad thing. Knowing where your boundries are is what they need but we don't have to overreact (like we as auburn fans do for everything) and say that it can't work one way because a previous staff did it that way. there is plenty of room for a grey area here.

I feel the same way. That's all I was saying.

The soft part falls entirely upon Gene Chizik, plain and simple. Asst coaches, although can go rogue, will adhere to the mandates set by the head coach. The HC sets the tone and shapes the mentality and culture of the team. Either by what he does or doesn't do during his tenure.

Come on home DC, would love to have you.

Looks like DC still owns his house in Auburn. Maybe he planned on coming back at some point?
