Did Bo really not lift weights? It was hinted that he was fairly lazy in college by not wanting to practice much at all because his natural ability was stupidly ridiculous.
Imagine if he worked out seriously like some of the workout warriors in the NFL. Instead of running a 4.12, he may have run a 4 flat 40 and would have been even more ridiculous on the field.

That's not how it works. Lifting weights decreases 40 times. Weight lifting uses fast twitch fibers and the shorter or shortest metabolic pathways. There's a famous instance of a Olympic dead lifter crushing the fastest person in the NFL a while back in a 40.
If Bo had been on a modern training regiment, it simply would have been unfair.

If Bo had added muscle, he would have weighed more and thus been slower.
I dont think Id call Bo lazy at AU...he did have a good point of why am I running on Tuesday when I need to he running on Saturday.

The research has been out for more than 20 years. The training has only been adopted within the last decade. A good weight training program will make you faster, bigger, more flexible, less injury prone, and significantly increase short term recovery after intense activity.

I laughed when he said that playing football was just a hobby

Yep. This is why sprinters are ripped to shreds now and times are continually going down on average. Weight training makes everyone better and dramatically improves fast twitch muscle fibers.
This is why virtually everyone looks significantly larger and more athletic now than they did in 1990. Nutrition and weight training programs are incredibly important with regards to reaching your full potential.

I totally misread what you posted and thought you said he'd be running a 4.4 40. I'm from Mississippi, reading isn't my strong point

I really don't think Bo took football as seriously as Herschel did. Bo was not one who could take a pounding and keep coming at you. Or maybe he could but preferred not to, imo.

You clearly don't know BO.

Bo did not run a real 4.12 forty yard dash (it was an inaccurate hand time). No one on the planet can do that, even Usain Bolt if measured accurately. The fastest recorded time of the last 15 years at the NFL combine is 4.24 by Chris Johnson in 2008 which is approaching the limits of theoretical human top speed over such a short distance.
Bo's best time he ran in the 100M dash (10.39 sec) is fast but not Olympic Caliber speed. Herschel Walker ran a 10.22 by comparison which made him about 23rd fastest in the world that year. Bo wouldn't have been in the top 100. That is a BIG difference in speed for the 100M dash. Herschel was also (briefly) the world record holder in the 60 yard dash (Carl Lewis broke it at the same meet)

You can't make this comparison. It's like taking a 5k time and then saying "if I convert this time to a 40, it's pretty slow." There's a whole lot of college and NFL players who would stomp Bolt in a 40 yard dash.
As you point out, Walker performed better in the 60 than the 100M. The shorter those distances become the better the football players are going to do.

rmn9799,
the point was that some of the mythology around Jackson is a little overblown. He was big and fast, but he was nowhere near the fastest guy in the world (or even the SEC). The director of that film made the point that he was one of the last heroes who came up in a world where everything is not on Youtube or ESPN, and the story gets BIGGER over time. Great film.
Jackson was awesome, but Herschel was even better!

Great player but Hershal > Bo as a football player at least.

Trindon ran faster. Bo was faster with higher acceleration than both of them. You never saw them run.
As far as bolt, that's just stupid what you posted. Watch track for the next 25 years and attended at least 2 major events with world class athletes, then we can talk.
Until then please stick to seething like peewee football.
