Three teams, really? No originality, no real connection to any of the schools whatsoever.
You're an idiot.

This thread was not a good troll thread. It just shows your lack of knowledge for your beloved conference.

Probably already been mentioned, but maybe OP should do a little research on the mascots correlation to the school before starting this thread.
Just a suggestion.
If you go look at LSU's you'll see the correlation. And it's a damn good one.
Read the thread. I know the connection. There is no REAL connection between REAL tigers, which are seemingly the name and mascot of LSU's team. If they wanted to go with a civil war troop then they should have Mike the confederate soldier...

Really, 7 pages worth of rustled jimmies passes my benchmark for successful troll threads. Mine usually don't get past two-three pages.

You're getting better, Daniel-son. But it would have been better if you knew the history of the mascots, and actually trashed that. THAT would rustle some jimmies. Like 20 pages worth of jimmies.

Yeah it's like I kicked their dog. I never thought it would go this far.

1) Razorbacks
This is by far the best mascot. It is neither over-played nor an abstraction. It is only known to be associate with our school and state. We also have a great live animal that would literally destroy others' dogs, cats, and chickens.
Great..a pig..the fearsome..wild pig
quote:
2) Crimson Tide
This one is great too. It is also wholly identifiable with a school and state.
How is the name "crimson tide" identifiable with the state of alabama? besides the school nickname, it has nothing at all to do with the state of alabama. neither do elephants
quote:
Gators
Cool mascot with real connections to the state.
Agreed. This one is a solid pick
quote:
Gamecocks
Weird name but overall a fighting rooster is a pretty damn mean animal.
True
quote:
Commodores
This one has no immediately obvious connection to the school, but being named after the school founder is sort of cool. It is also a human mascot, so a bit weak.
now a human mascot is considered "weak". Got it.
BTW, Did you finally figure out that a bengal tiger is just a mascot and the name "fighting tigers" has more history than most of the SEC teams?

quote:Bama has had live mascot through the years.
The negatives are abstraction and lack of live mascot.
In the 1930's the homecoming queen would ride the elephant.
Alabama's 1947 homecoming queen rides elephant onto the field.
Pep rally 1954.
During the early part of the Ironbowl after the game was resumed in the 40's and 50's, Birmingham would have a parade and a live elephant and live tiger would be featured in the parade.
quote:
During one period, the Iron Bowl would feature a parade through Birmingham and an elephant and tiger from the Birmingham Zoo would be included to represent the two schools.
Elephants were brought back often until some idiot crawled in with them and was hurt in 1980's.
quote:
In 1982 a 24-year-old man was injured when he crawled into the enclosure and one of the elephants threw him into the other.
In 1991 they brought back the live elephant for homecoming. As someone stated they brought a couple back in the early 2000's but that was the last time.
quote:
"That Alabama team of 1930 is a typical Wade machine, powerful, big, tough, fast, aggressive, well-schooled in fundamentals, and the best blocking team for this early in the season that I have ever seen. When those big brutes hit you I mean you go down and stay down, often for an additional two minutes.
"At the end of the quarter, the earth started to tremble, there was a distant rumble that continued to grow. Some excited fan in the stands bellowed, 'Hold your horses, the elephants are coming,' and out stamped this Alabama varsity.

Yes, because a confederate soldier would go over so well in today's society..
quote:
The "Tiger Rifles" were a volunteer group of men that formed in the New Orleans area during the Civil War. They later became a part of a battalion that was commanded by Major Chatham Roberdeau Wheat.
Before the war was over the entire battalion became known as the "Tigers." As time went on, the name "Tigers" was associated with all Louisiana troops commanded by Robert E. Lee. The tiger symbol became the logo of the Washington Artillery in New Orleans, LA. The official logo consisted of a mean and snarling tiger's head. David French Boyd, a Major in the Confederate Army, became the first president of Louisiana State University after the war ended.
He was very familiar with the "Tiger Rifles" and the "Tigers" from the Washington Artillery. It was during the fourth year of intercollegiate games that the LSU football team officially adopted the name "Tigers" for their football team.
I don't care who you are and who you root for--that is pretty damned cool
And as far as an actual tiger relating to our nickname--it's just a mascot, and we have two of them. There is a reason we are called the "fighting tigers"

I think he's right.
ETA: I am part of the last fanbase that should be involved in a mascot fight, and Im not arguing the rebels position on your rankings. I just think you're really stupid.

What I know is irrelevant. I am talking about appliances. Mascots are the face of your school and team. They should be easily understood and marketed.
Please tell me what the fricking thought process was on this master piece? What in the Sam hell does a razorback make me easily understand about Arkansas?

8) Wildcats
Mostly vague and unoriginal.
Nice try at a troll but much to be desired. UK was playing football about a decade before everybody else in the SEC. It was original back then and now everybody has copied their mascot. It is not vague as it was based on a historical game when the comment was made that they "played like wildcats" and it stuck. I think at one time they had live wildcats at the game but the ASPCA may have ended that.
