The Ball coach disagrees. I guess you are saying Johnny Football is a system QB. Oregon gets stopped ever time they play a real Defense. If this was the case Big 12 and Pac 12 would be the top conferences.

Just because Oregon doesn't score 50 against good defenses doesn't mean the offensive philosophy is flawed.

As for the Big 12, OU won the MNC running Mike Leach's air raid in 2001. They haven't won it since. Oregon is the only "power" team running the spread in the PAC but they don't have top shelf defensive talent.

Not saying the thread is flawed. Just saying everyone won't be running it in 7 years.

Other offenses have been effective as well, in case you haven't noticed.

Oregon is FAR from anything close to "power". Barner weighs 190 lbs. and DeAnthony weighs 178.

They actually won the MNC with Mark Mangino as their OC.

Oregon will never recruit defense. Their philosophy is the best way to win wil always be to outscore. If the slowest kid on offense is a 4.7, and they are conditioned, then this philosophy usually works.

Maple,
I have much respect for you and enjoy your posts. However, do not let what Johnny did this year conjure up dozens of JFF all over the landscape.

Johnny is a once in a decade or two player. Johnny is truly gifted and was the main reason for your success this season.

The spread has been run in the SEC in various formats for many years with varied success .

Yes, some teams will try and find a Johnny but to no avail.

I suspect within five years, A&M will be looking a lot like Bama and LSU as far as player size, quality, and type of offense run.

The spread is a gimick offense in my opinion.

True, it took Bama one quarter to figure out Johnny and unfortunately, was out of the game by then.

I suspect next year at Kyle, Bama will play like it did the other 3 qtrs.

we all know 21-0 Aggie end of first but the 2,3rd and 4th qtr, score 25-8 Bama. If you give Bama 10 tries at the 6 to make a TD, they make it 60% of time. So, score last three Qtr's would have been 32-8 Bama.

The spread gets figured out quickly, that's why it won't take in the SEC
