Look, both sides didn't want to meet in the Cotton Bowl. Texas had been gaming it for weeks and A&M has much more to lose if that game were to happen versus playing in another bowl. This isn't about ducking a team, its about playing it smart for the long term.
By not meeting in high cotton...
A&M Upsides:
Mack Brown keeps his job
Beat down Michigan
No risk of wiping out the progress made in state
SEC Upside:
LSU and A&M beat down bowl opponents.
SEC's legacy lives on with little risk to either.
Texas Upside:
No one can definitively see the emperor has no clothes when they would inevitably lose to A&M.
They don't have to fire Mack and truly look like a program on the run.

I don't get it frankly
If I were an A&M fan I'd want to beat the snot out of Texas this year - FWIW I'm glad if A&M passes on this one since I'd like LSU to play Texas this year to get even for 2002

cause people want to make it seem like theyve moved on from a rivalry that lasted longer than a century in one year. frankly id love to play them one more time just to get scoreboard back. then i could care less if we play them again. but i would love to play them one more time, blow them out, and get scoreboard back. would be willing to play them on a regular basis again once they cut out all of this stupid shite that they have been doing the past couple of years

Dumb thread is dumb. A&M Admin has repeatedly said "any time, any place" to playing Texas, even as recently as Thanksgiving weekend. The only ones dodging the Cotton Bowl is Texas, and some other B12 teams as well according to the Cotton Bowl Chairman.

How about this? Play the game every year in Austin, televise it only on LHN, and Aggies have to leave the Brown Shirts in College Station instead of marching them down Congress Avenue like they were Nazis taking over Paris.
Get Prez Bowtie to sign off on this & I'll work on the other end.

You've had most a year to hire a HC and haven't. What the hell has Long been doing?
No team is a bigger loser than Arkansas when A&M joined the Conference.
I don't care where we play you in the future you are going to lose.
We can beat you down in Dallas or in LR or Fayetteville.
Feeling sorry for you.

Have to love how sips love to call the Corps the "Brownshirts" and "Nazis" when there were more Aggies that served in WWII than any college including ALL of the Service Academies COMBINED and had 7 men win the Congressional Medal of Honor, almost all of them fighting REAL Nazis.
Damn I am glad to be out of the Big 12. Go home sip troll and tell your scared little bitch of an AD to stop being afraid of Daddy A&M.

The Shorthorns don't want to play any SEC team truthfully. We enjoyed beating their asses a couple years back the only ones I know of that have a fan base with more assholes..well we play them today.

This is the truth. The sips can spin it as they wish, but this is the truth.
