Appropriate since the term "redneck" was originally coined in Britain to denote Presbyterian or other religious dissenters in the north of the island, the mass of which made up the Scotch-Irish, part of our Southern ancestry.

Or in West Virginia during the coal mine strikes. Red bandanas around the neck distinguished coal miners from scabs.
