Once again, the argument is more against having a permanent East rival period, not who that east rival is.

quote:

Alleva said 11 of the 14 SEC schools are in favor of retaining permanent opponents — including Florida, the Tigers’ permanent SEC East opponent. LSU has maintained in the past that Florida also wanted to eliminate their annual game.

“I don’t think it’s fair,” Alleva said. “I think people have voted in the best interests of their schools and not the league.”

quote:

One is the potential for competitive imbalance. LSU has to play a perennial SEC power in Florida, a program that has made more SEC Championship Game appearances than any team and joins LSU and Alabama as the only schools to win two BCS national titles.

Conversely, Mississippi State plays Kentucky and Ole Miss plays Vanderbilt each year. Kentucky and Vanderbilt are traditionally near the bottom of the SEC East standings and the only two schools in that division to have never played in the SEC Championship Game.

I mean you're not gonna sit here and say that you want to play Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Missouri, etc. more often are you?

this quote fits in a lot more with what I am saying and not about being "scared" of playing Florida. the permanent Easy opponent does mess up the balance of the league (schools are voting in their best interest...rivals and to still keep their tradition, and the schools playing crappy schools want to keep that). playing at the opposite division SEC schools once every 13 years is not a league.

the other thing you quoted I guess is from a writer? he is just stating facts.

No, but I would like to play in Lexington more than once every 13 years. I would like to go to Columbia sometime in the near future...who knows when that will happen

I guarantee you majority of LSU fans want to play Florida every year. I can start a thread on the Rant right now and prove it to you.
