With Franklin not being able to go tonight, could we have seen the last of Franklins play last week during Syracuse?

Has anyone heard anything on Mauks play during practice this year? I've heard nothing.

Does anyone think Mauk can pry the QB job away from Franklin, or will Berk mature into another starting QB?

Since we have two more QB's comming in, it seems there will be a total of five QB's on the roster. Will the transfer bug bite on another QB?

Here is my take on this.....

I think the starting job is Franklins to lose. I think Mauk will really have to show the "it" factor to unseat Franklin.

I see Berk doing just what he did this year, next year. He just doesn't show the same game to this point. There is always the unpredictable, but I can't see it at this point unless he comes out against aTm tonight and has a career game. Which I also just can't see. So, he remains a backup.

Then there's Trent Hosick and Eddie Printz. Both of these guys looked and sound good. I don't know enough about Printz to really comment on where he'll be in two years. Hosick, is a real dual threat QB. I can actually see him starting at some point.

To me it all hinges around Franklin and Mauk. Which one will step up this spring? There is alot of horses in the stable.

With 2 Qbs committed and the hard push they're making for another one, I'm guessing Mauk is nothing special. But that's just a guess.

Recall gabe saying prior to berks first start that he saw nothing from any of the backups to make him think Franklin wasn't our best option. That was a whole back though

Franklin doesn't play next year.

He's been making decisions based on his quality of life for the next 60 years rather than the next year. No pro prospects, steady girlfriend, good academics.

He hangs it up, finishes up the degree, marries his chick, and works his way up the ladder at a Public Relations Company in Minnesota.

I wish him luck.

I think he has more "want-to" than we see from the external. I'm not defending his play. I just think he's got some guts and some heart.

He has no problem showing it externally while playing ping pong.. just can't muster it up on the field. Just sayin..

It really should not take much to unseat Franklin. I really think he is mediocre. He's below average throwing the ball and, when healthy, slightly above average running. Either he has to drastically improve or Berk does. Berk being so much younger probably has more of an opportunity for improvement.

I will narrow it even more. It all hinges on Mauk being what he was built up to be. We will be mediocre with Franklin. Berk has the arm to to be better than mediocre but I don't think he's there overall. I don't see Hosick or Printz coming in as freshman. Likely redshirt both since we have the other 3 available. In the long run, I don't know enough about Printz other than his highlight videos, which are just that, highlights. I really liked what I saw in those though. I still don't see Hosick as a QB. I probably put too much on the only game I saw (LSW) but his numbers the rest of the year don't impress me much more.

The second set of numbers may admittedly be from a junior season.

Either he has to have a major transformation or wake me in 2014 with a new QB and a new coach.

The first set is Hosick's numbers and the second is Printz's.

I certainly see what you're saying. But don't you think they wouldn't have been worried about burning his redshirt if that was the case? Or maybe they didn't burn his redshirt because he isn't even as good as the poor QB's we've had this year. Depressing thought. Who is the third they're going after by the way?

Not that high school numbers aren't relevant..

But comparing high school stats between a player in a pass first offense in Georgia vs a run offense in Missouri is about as irrelevant as stats can get.

Yeah, that is a good point. Why invest in saving him if he's no good. I think a redshirt was just a given with him this year though.. but that is a valid point.

I think his name is Thompson, I'm not really sure actually. Just saw someone mention that on here a coupe weeks ago.

I know they have to be taken with a grain of salt. But when I combine that with the admittedly just one game of Hosick, one looks like a QB the other looks like a great athlete with unbelievable drive who happens to be playing QB because he's the best athlete on the team.

I'll bet Hosick never takes a snap (unless in wildcat).

You may very well be right. But I can say that until Hosick shows up and goes through some pracices we won't know. He is dangerous with a decent line. He sure can run the ball and is not a bad passer either.

But with this coaching staff, who would look good? Until something is addressed there first, you could have Johnny Football playing here and he'd look like crap too.
