According to Jerry Palm, the chances of Florida making the MNC are 20%

In the event that notre dame loses to USC and Florida beat FSU, jerry said he believes there's onlyt a 20% chance the gators would be voted number 2. Said the voters will do anything in their power to prevent an all SEC championship game again.
His most likely matchup in that case, depending on the manner in which ND loses, would be the SEC champion vs one loss notre dame.

Wouldn't surprise me, depending on how UF looks against FSU. If they flop around like they did against UGA and pull out an ugly win, I doubt they get in.

I think if ND loses, you will have the SEC champ playing Oregonbfor the crystal ball.

UCLA needs to beat Stanford for that to happen, probably.... otherwise, Oregon won't play next weekend and won't win the Pac12.
If ND loses AND Oregon can win the Pac12, then I agree... it'll be Bama/UGA vs UO.

They would have to drop Fla. Their computer margin would kill both ND and Oregon. Fla is already 5 and 6 in the human polls, but their computer jumps them to 3rd as it is in the BCS.

Yep, I could see the yankees & west coast voters putting UF at #20-25 just to drop them. System is corrupt.....

I still can't believe UGA beat UF. even UGA fans accepted the loss before the game.

If UF beats FSU and ND loses, UF will be two on SOS alone. Computers would have them at #1.

I would agree. There would have to be some major poll tampering for them not to move up to #2, imo.

Depends on how far ND would drop in the computers. They are currently number 1. If they lost to USC and the computers just dropped them to 3 (might be possible), then the voters could probably keep ND in and Florida out by solidly ranking ND one spot above Florida (which would be stupid but not completely laughable).
The wild card is Oregon. If they can get to the Pac12 championship by UCLA beating Stanford and then win the championship game, then the voters would have the perfect team to use to jump Florida and keep them out.

If ND was only one spot ahead in the human polls. Fla would jump them. ND will no longer have #1 in the computers if they lose. Likely Fla would.
Oregon is out. Their computer avg is 7. That's not changing.

I forgot, what was the score in Bama's SEC championship game last year?

Doesn't matter FSU will hammer UF

You don't think their computer average would improve with wins over Oregon State and UCLA? If they got to 2 in the polls and 4 in the computers, they could have shot depending on where Florida fell (e.g. voters put ND at 3 and keep Florida at 4).

Not necessarily, if ND was 3 in the computers and 2 in both polls and Florida was 3 in both polls and 1 in the computers it could be very tight.
I'm just saying there are ways to keep Florida out by using a one loss Oregon, ND, and possibly Kansas State in the polls without it looking all that ridiculous (it would be pretty transparent still).

Yeah, I'm afraid this is likely based on how the two teams look lately. If Florida and ND lose (very possible), looking at Oregon or K State back in it.
I think Georgia and Alabama would love ND or K State. Oregon is still the scariest of the potential matchups. I think Bama and Georgia can beat them, but they do put a lot of pressure on your defense to play well every play of the game. Still can't believe how well Stanford's defense held up. Was just a great performance.

frankly i see uf as only having a 20% chance of hitting double digit points vs fsu with the abortion they call an offense

ND would probably jump them in that scenario. No way the get over Bama, Fla or ND in the computers.

It would fall on how many votes each got at the 2 and 3 position. I don't think ND would have a solid enough point avg to hold off Fla.
That's all my personal opinion, and I've admittedly been wrong a time or two before. In the end, I think it's going to end up ND/Bama. But still 2 games to go, so we'll see.

Concur. We did not believe what we just saw!

If all that happens it would be VERY unfair to UF if they don't make it. They haven't looked pretty but if they beat FSU they would be 4-1 vs current BCS Top 10 teams.
No other team would have played against that many teams that highly ranked, and the few that have played more than one BCS top 10 team no one is even above 0.5. (Bama and UGA are both 1-1)
Yet we’ll hear about the “eye test” and all this crap, only in College Football Facts are optional.
