It's counting injuries too.
And redshirts.
So it's attrition, grade casualties, injuries and redshirts I think. I haven't done the counting myself to have any idea, but if you want evidence that we're undermanned, we started a damn walk-on at corner against LSU.

You're right. They'd rather be the the cosmopolitan utopia that is Starkville.

Plus we started 2 down when Fehoko Fanainka and Avery Johnson didn't qualify. And I might be missing a few people. This doesn't take into account people that are redshirting, because if you don't count those people you're being dishonest. They still practice and help the team prepare for the game.
ETA: I forgot Alfred Blue, so 73 players.
LSU went into Saturday with, at the most, 74 players on scholarship.

They are subtracting redshirts to get to the 59 number.

We had a walk on playing corner back against a top 10 team on the road. When sawyer got hurt the oldest guy playing DB was a true sophomore. And special teams lost the game for us. If we had 5 or 10 more players for just a little bit of depth on the special teams, that punt return might not have happened. All I'm saying is that I'm pretty excited to see how this team does when freeze has players.

That is intellectually dishonest. If I counted up all the guys that are red shirting for LSU, the 73 would be about 65 or less. But that's not how it works. If they are redshirting and not injured, they still count.

THIS.
It's amazing they can convince any kids to play there. Truly a school stuck in the 1800's

Punt the sumbitch out of bounds or through the endzone.
Special teams are like playing poker with deuces wild.

LSU doesn't have 85 "healthy" players either. They have been hit hard this year with injuries and also lost the startng CB and a LB due to other issues.

That was more about your punter out kicking the coverage, thus allowing the return to set up.
