Fans are the MOST important part of any organization or famous person or any entity that needs them to exist.
Fans are the MOST qualified to call themselves a part of the organization... from my perspective.
Also, whoever said the SECrant is chock full of stupid and weird... yeah, i'm gonna go with that one too.
"we" is totally fine.

Certainly fans play a role in the success of a program. And I think that's one the main things that separates the SEC from other conferences. We (the SEC) have some of the best, most rabid fans in the country. It's the South, we love our college football.
But I strongly disagree with the opinion that fans are the MOST qualified to call themselves a part of the organization because there is literally no qualifications to be a fan. None whatsoever. I could wake up tomorrow and call myself a fan of the Seattle Seahawks or something but I can't say I'm a huge part of the organization.
A huge fanbase is not a reason for the program's success, just an effect. How many sidewalk fans did Bama have before Bryant compared to other programs? Probably not many. But after Bryant and because continued success, Bama has a huge sidewalk fanbase. I'm not hating, just a couple facts. Same with Yankees, Cowboys, etc.
