Makes more sense, if they did this when we visit.

Yeah, I find this a little odd.

Bama is honoring our players?
That's puzzling.

Somebody already posted on here that several of them went on to be Bama coaches. That's probably why, numbnuts.

A ton of Bama connections on that team, including what became 2 NC winning head coaches for Bama. Have met Dee Powell and was as nice a man as you'd ever want to meet, along with his wife. Having said all that, I'm not understanding the pregame stuff. The reception, accomodations for the tour and all, is fine. In any case, hope they enjoy the hospitality. Might help soothe the loss some.

I didn't read the link, but in our paper (today is one of the 3 days they print now.

Good sportsmanship,IMO. Something the SEC needs more of.

I think it's appropiate. These guys know what Texas A&M is going to feel like on Saturday.

"Football might wait, but I don't reckon Coach Bryant will."

Some of them probably wouldn't be around next year.

Six of Coach Bryant’s players at A&M eventually found their way to Alabama to pursue coaching careers including the late Bobby Marks, who was a Tide assistant coach from 1972 to 1982.
Darwin Holt was a fullback & linebacker who played at A&M in 1957, he then transferred to Alabama in 1959 and was a member of Alabama’s 1961 national championship team.
Bobby Drake Keith was a halfback at A&M and then joined Coach Bryant as a member of his football staff in 1958 and 59.
Dee Powell was a guard at A&M, and then followed Bryant to Alabama where he served on his staff for 20 seasons.
In 1957 John David Crow won A&M's only Heisman-trophy and later served as an assistant for the Tide from 1969 to 1971.
Gene Stallings played for Coach Bryant at A&M and then following his playing career at A&M, followed "The Bear" to Alabama, where he was an assistant coach for seven seasons. In 1965, he became head coach at Texas A&M for seven seasons, then was a long-time assistant for the Dallas Cowboys. After a stint as head coach of the St. Louis & Phoenix Cardinals, he served as Alabama’s head coach from 1990 to 1996, leading the Tide to the 1992 national championship following a Sugar Bowl win over Miami.

What kills me is that when I read an actual hard copy of the the News, the content is the same as what I read online three days prior.

Huh? Learn something new everyday.
And wow! Just realized how much Advanced Publications owns, and you'd think they could put a little bit better effort into the Birmingham News with those types of resources.

Why the Hell are we doing this?

It all started when one of the Junction Boys contacted Paul Bryant Jr to say that he was coming to the game and that some of the others wanted to make it up, really more of a social "We'll be in town" kind of thing. Then Bryant arranged for the tickets and such and it got around to the Alabama AD which has made it in to the larger production. Really all it will be is a brief intro sometime during the game. Obviously with Stallings and several of the others being former Bama coaches and JDC's Heisman being on the Bama campus, the connections between that group and Bama are thick and they are a very classy group of gentleman, I know several personally.
I also think part of it is several of the Junction Boys are in poor health so this may be one of the last chances to do it. Jack Pardee in particular is ill and I'm not sure if he will make it to the event but the average age for all these guys is in their late 70's.
