re: Why didn’t Kiffin’s OL coach at Ole Miss follow him?

Kiffin told him plane’s full

He read a screen on the play and got a pass deflection.
The first two defensive snaps of the game got me super pumped
Play 1: he flew down hill and took on an Olineman, set the edge and kept his outside shoulder free and made a tackle for loss.
Play 2: Houston hit a little crease up the middle, and Spears came in and smacked the ball carrier full speed at full speed, tackling him for a modest 4 yard game.

Not having a good edge rusher hurt this team
Patrick Payton was a massive swing and miss
Pyburn was solid and physical, but not athletic enough to finish plays
Losing Reliford hurt very much. And either developing the edge position (Cobbins, Jackson or Shanklin) or finding a good one out the portal is of the utmost importance

Spears, as you may know, was one of the highest graded defenders all year despite limited snaps.
I thought he played violent roaming sideline to sideline.
Maybe might not have the same cerebral-esque plays Haulcy displayed (the punch out near the GL against Ole Miss comes to mind) but Spears is going to maintain the physicality he brought to the position.

Koby Young looked athletically better than the LSU’s DBs.
I always liked him out of Holy Cross

What time is the Blue-Gray game today? I can’t find it on the channel guide

Better than Bryan Kelley. I think in the right situation Mullens can be the next Kiffen if not Sabin. Not a flop like Hermann or over the hill like Fischer.
Nice
Would probably take an AD like Bertmen to make a hire like Mullins

this nepotism to pay him more is weird.
How is it weird?
LSU wanted Lane Kiffin. I’m sure Sexton said Lane wants to keep his brother close by especially since their father just passed
And its not like Chris doesn’t have the credentials to be an SEC front-7 coach.
NFL assistant at multiple stops. SEC DLine coach for several years. FAU Co-DC.

Posters didn’t even want him coaching a position group — which is mind boggling.
Chris being given a fake title to keep Lane’s brother close by a year removed after his father died? Yeh I’m good with it

The disrespect people give Chris Kiffin is amazing
Is he SEC DC caliber? No. But this guy has coached position groups in the NFL at multiple stops. Same in the SEC. And has been a Co-DC in college.

I wouldnt think with the effort made to keep Baker from taking a HC job — keeping his guys (Peoples and Olson) would only make sense from Blake’s side.
Blake wants to become an SEC HC and I can’t imagine he’d be OK with ditching guys he’s comfortable with for guys he’s not, plus Chris Kiffin getting the Co-DC tag

Throw a MILL at Mark Fletcher Jr - Miami RB
Im assuming LSU will land Kewan Lacy so there’s no need wasting time
But Adam Mohammed (now in the portal) looked absolutely fantastic in starts filling in for Jonah Coleman at UDub.
6’0, 215 with some burst. 105 yards on 14 carries against Oregon. 108 on 21 the week prior against UCLA
Someone will get an immediate starter.

All 3 solid options and have their advantages.
Would happy with any one of these

Defensive Line Coach
Chris Kiffin is as accomplished of a coach as LSU can land right now
A former national recruiter of the year (check)
Coached in the SEC (check)
Former NFL position coach (check)
So LSU is in good hands at the position no matter, even if Kiffin can’t find someone else that would be an upgrade over his brother.
re: Dillingham to Michigan not dead yet

Michigan would fire their inept offensive minded coach for cause and make a massive upgrade hire in the process
I’d say they (if the Dillingham hire comes to fruition) did better than anyone this cycle outside LSU in an on-paper hire.

ok...prove it and I'll leave
That at every collegiate coaching job Kiffin has elevated the program from where he previous inherited it — and I give the USC job an incomplete considering the sanctions and abrupt firing
Tennessee was 5-7 and 106 nationally in offensive efficiency when he took over. He left them 7-6 and 31st in offensive efficiency
FAU won 27 games in his 3 years at the school. In the combined three years before and after his arrival (so 6 years), FAU won 24 games.
And we understand the unprecedented success Ole Miss has had with its greatest stretch in program history.

Does Kiffin traditionally use more than one main back?
Off the top of my head
Jerion Ealy and Snoop Conner
Zach Evans and Judkins
Judkins and Bentley
A combo of bigger back with slashers. This year Kiffin and Kevin Smith have pretty much used Lacy exclusively
Judkins and Evans combined for 2500 yards and 25 TDs a few years back.
Lacy and Berry
Frank and Caden to Ole Miss (predictions)

You do realize we have 2 running backs right now in Durham and Berry. One is injury prone. You absolutely HAVE to take a minimum of 2 backs in the portal after we are losing 2.
Absolutely
And Lucas is a kick returner. Not a running back.

They’re won’t be a better safety to enter the portal.
