I understand they are two different spread systems built from different philosophies.... but there is a level of similarities -- pace of play being a big one.

We had success in the 2nd half of the 2010 Iron Bowl with going up-tempo after a first down... both teams have to make the bigger linebackers move in space.

Should be fun.

I think the middle of the field will be vulnerable for Alabama. I think A&M will see that LSU had some success with the TE & with a few middle routes even with Bama in their Nickel Packages & Mosely on the field as their "pass coverage" LB in the 34 front.

A&M attacked LSU early with edge passing on short-comeback routes off a vertical release off the line. They'd come back with fakes off that look to run some shot-gun sweeps & mix in a bit of dancing around from Johnny JJ.

When LSU switched to a 3 man front & only kept 3 Linebackers in, Manziel got really confused on the pressure looks we gave him. We were sending the blitz off the edge a ton but he wasn't sure whether it was the LB or the DB coming and with the Ends playing contain we really neutralized him. Couple that with the coverage downfield and we waited for him to make mistakes or throw it away, which he did.

The thing that impressed me was LSU's DE played contain but still didn't do much against that Tackle duo. They are very talented on the edges of their OL and if they can pick up pressure against Bama, I think those LB's are going to get worn out with the tempo. They could move the ball using the middle of the field which would set up some edge stuff.

It'll take a Herculean effort, but I think the blocking schemes & the way that Bama attacks the A&M front will be very useful for Chip Kelly if they can avoid stubbing their toe from here on out.

agreed...and the stage won't be too big for Oregon... they've been to three straight BCS games (two rose bowls and a BCSNCG)... they know what they did wrong two years ago and can adjust their planning/prep accordingly.

K-State and ND are good teams, but they'll wilt under that kind of pressure imo (heck, ND almost did saturday).
