Cox picked a good time to announce it. We needed some good news. We need him as much as anyone out there. Immediate help in the secondary, which is where we will need it most next year.

He's been a private commit for some time now, so it's safe to say that the coaches picked a good time to announce it.

Damage control is right. Mullin & Company need to nut up & start coaching X & O's. Stop with media campaigns, #'s,etc & take care of their business on the field.
Enough of the rant - Glad to have Cox on board. I really think he is a true difference maker.

You really think Mullen is running the campaigns and hashtags?

Actually he has little to do with it. Yes, they occasionally run stuff by him.

I really could give 2 shits who runs it. What I would like is for our coaches to get their head out of their arse & put together a gameplan that puts our players in a position to be successful.

The shitshow of was the last 2 weeks needs to stop!!!!

Think about what will be on the field next year. We have Nickoe returning at safety. Now throw in Cox, Dee Arrington, Redmond, The Browns, Kivon, Love, Calhoun, and Market fighting for Corner/Ss spots. We have never had anywhere near that much talent in the secondary. The D line is absolutely stacked with talent and we only lose Boyd who has underperformed this year IMO, and all we lose is Cam at LB. the future looks good on defense gentlemen I don't care what color your glasses are.

Honestly, I am extremely worried about our D next year. We're losing 5 starters. Love has underperformed when we've used him. Calhoun can't beat him out. Jiles is still young, but may be our best bet for 2nd corner outside of Cox. I love Nickoe, but he's been whiffing on tackles and he can't cover as well as we need him to. I have no idea who's gonna be beside him. Dee's underperformed. Watson'll be gone. I don't think Hughes or Market is the answer either. Our D-Line has underperformed all year and we're losing both of our D-Tackles there. We'll need some combination of Quay, PJ and Nick to bust their butts this offseason and step up, and we'll need somebody on the edge to get faster and learn how to give some pressure. Whether that's De'Nico or Preston or Ryan Brown or Chris Jones I don't know. LB is the only position I really feel safe on, and unless we have a 2010 like LB core we really can't rely on them. We need lots of people to step up in different places if we're gonna have a good defense next year.

Nickoe has pissed me off as of late but there is no denying his talent. Broomfield is great but we will benefit from having a true safety step in, regardless if that is Dee or Cox they will be faster and have 3 inches on Corey. It will hurt losig Boyd but Quay and/or Nick have every opportunity to be on his current level as sophomores. You lose Cam at LB but we have 4 guys with a lot of experience returning plus Richie Brown and possibly Benequez depending on where he is with his weight stepping in at the very least. We will be a far better defensive unit next year without question. The only spot that won't be a direct improvement is CB, we need Redmond, Cox, Love, Dee, Kivon, Calhoun, Brown, Market, or all of the above to have a big offseason. Some of our better plays this season at CB have surprisingly been made when Banks or Slay we're taking a breather, and no offense to the 2 above but it hasn't been the second string getting burned and playing loose the last 2 weeks they need to step their shite up as does the LB unit.

ETA: don't forget that Quay has only had 1 spring and Nick didn't get here until July or August. We still have PJ who missed half the season, Eulls is going to find a spot depending on what another year of Balis does to him. You have Chris Jones coming in who will contribute immediately, he made some of the best linemen at big dawg look like Junior Varsity in line drills.
