The rumor is that he is fricking with the hiring process of a new coach and just being a bitch to Hart and Co. If this is true, should we just kill him or should we torture his gator arse first before loading him into a wood chipper?

Does it have any substantial weight or is it just because he was with UF for so long.

Cheek has been on the hot seat by boosters for a while. No one really likes him.

He's apparently trying to tie down the athletic department with stricter academic standards and just being a bitch to Hart. I go to UT, and I could give a frick if we let retards in as long as they win football games. Cheek can take that shite to Vandy if he wants a smart football team.

This rumor is stupid. Chancellor runs a university that does other stuff than football. I would guess he lets his AD do the hiring.
edit: I don't care who's on the football team (as long as they aren't robbing gas stations), but academic standards could help boost rankings, which boosts prestige, which boosts the value of your degree. I have a degree there, the fact that my department is top 10 (out of like 20, but who's counting) is nice.
And who is Cheek on the hot seat from, skoal patrol types without degrees from the university?

I don't mind a chancellor being against spending a lot of money on a coach (if the money is being taken away from academics, which it isn't). However, if Cheek is trying to keep Tennessee from firing Dooley, he should be shot.

I initially heard the same things. I heard we were set to announce Dooley is gone Monday AM, but he backed off at 7am. Something happened on a call b/t CDD and a booster though that got Cheek on board. He knows not to mess with the money train.

I just find it funny that he thinks he can mess with the AD at all. They donated 17 million to academics last year. Just stop donating to academics if he wants to run the AD into the ground. That should get his attention. I've also heard that he has raised standards on admissions for football players so that we are at a disadvantage against other SEC schools, even Vandy.

That doesn't make sense. Your last two sentences indicate that Cheek is on board with firing Dooley. If that's the case, why would he have gotten in the way.

This is my biggest issue with the University. The AD is practically broke but heaven forbit Cheek allow for a reduction in the funds going to the univeristy.

I honestly think there's more to it than the "AD gave back XX dollars to academics." It's all the same pot. Maybe it's a tax deal or something ridiculous. It just doesn't make sense for one to be in debt, giving to the other, when it all comes essentially from the same pile. And $17M sounds high, thought it was like $5M, and I'm not even positive we're still doing that much. Is there a news clipping within the last year for that?
edit: yes, I know they are separate, but when push comes to shove, the debt is still owed by the university I assume.
