Ghosts of Mississippi
Guys how do you feel about this being aired this coming Tuesday?
I know personally I feel this could possibly be another failed attempt to show where we once were and where we have come to today ... I say failed because these things never seem to work out for us instead they tend to be used against us for our detriment.
Though in saying that I hope this is a powerful documentary that really does capture the essence of what Ole Miss and Oxford are/were as well as how both have progressed so far from the times of our past. And for once and all find a way to for us and everyone else to move past it. I know this would be hard to completely accomplish but it seems others have found a way i.e. ALABAMA, GEORGIA, ARKANSAS & LSU. Maybe by confronting the issue we might be able to get over the hurdle but who knows ...
Anyway, those are just my opinions ... so I ask what are y'alls thoughts?

Wright Thompson loves Ole Miss, knowing that and that he wrote it, I doubt it will be too negative. I'm excited for it because as an out of state student I am lacking in the Mississippi history department.

I think a lot of fans are too paranoid about it. I don't think anything bad will come of it. I'm ready for it to air.

I hope this is true ... but I can't help being paranoid, thats one of the biggest monkeys on our back ... perception = reality

I can assure you that it will be about how the team overcame a big problem. Played their homecoming that same week in Jackson, MS. The ending will portray Ole Miss as past all that. ESPN isn't going to just rip a university apart. I don't think Ole Miss would advertising to Rebel fans if it did.
I can assure you that the university saw it before the air date.

Could imagine what this week could be like if this documentary is as powerful and beneficary as it could be to the University and to boost we get a "W" Between the Hedges ... WOW could be a really big week for us

What Was Everyone's thoughts on this ESPN 30 for 30???
Personally I didn't think it was that bad but I surely don't think that it was helpful in moving on besides the fact that it seemed to make us own our past instead from hiding from it...
I thought so much more could have been said about the '62 team as well as the progress made since then to now at the University, I know it was slighty touched upon but still it seemed like most of the air time reflected on the Riots and bigiotory ... never mentioning though how most of the people that was their fighting weren't even Ole Miss people ...
I just don't know how I feel about it at the moment but I do know that so much more could have been said to paint a positive light on us that wasn't i.e. Students chasing the KKK off campus ... I should know I was there
Anyway How do you feel about "Ghost of Ole Miss"?

To me it was essentially Mississippi Burning again with a few segments of the 1962 football team thrown in. I was hoping for more but expected pretty much what was aired. I am on the fence about it.
There were a few things that I realized in watching the documentary, but for the most part it was the same old story just told in another persons light. I don't think it was a negative piece but it also left some positive things that our University has achieved since then.
He could have shown the Klan protest from a few years ago and what about a sentence or two about the Presidental debate? The whole film didnt have to be about a racial divide. I did enjoy the segments about the 62' team, they were a terrific group of athletes.

It was an excuse to talk about the riot without any type of end game. I got no message from watching it and learned no new information. It was a wast of an hour really.

I got tired of seeing that **** in the hat being all artsy and skeptical hippo about his racist uncle like I give a frick. Same old shite. Only this time they had different camera angles n shite. Needed more positive toward the end and when they talked about the black sbp they just had to mention the super isolated incident at the bar. frickin typical.
So yeah I loved it.
