First of all, let me say that Bama's O-line, they are as good as any I remember in college football. Second, and the point of the thread, I hear less about Anthony Steen than any of the other lineman, but to me, he is the best lineman of the starting five from a consistency standpoint.

He virtually never gets beat on run plays and is a very solid pass blocker as well.

What is the Bama faithful perception of Steen?

Anthony Steen

Played against him in high school. It's amazing watching how much bigger and faster he is now than he was then. He sucked in high school.

He is pretty consistent, but so are jones and warmack and they are better all around.

Steen is definitely the unsung hero but Jones is the best overall! He may be 3 time AA at 3 positions!

All I can say with him annually beating out bigger 5 star guys is that he must be downright nasty. Correct, consistent as heck.

Steen is the reason McCarron got sacked vs Mizzou. Initially one would think it was Fluker's fault, but if you watch the replay Steen was supposed to block him while Fluker kicked out, but Steen instead double teamed with Barrett Jones.

Steen is a good run blocker though. His stock has been rising, and he's likely to return next year.

Run Blocking :

Warmack > Fluker > Jones > Steen > Cyrus

Pass Pro :

Jones > Warmack > Cyrus > Steen = Fluker

Overall :

Warmack > Jones > Fluker >/= Cyrus > Steen

Talented OL across the board. Warmack/Jones/Cyrus are first round talents, Fluker will be back in the first round if he improves his footwork, something that has gradually gotten better every year. Steen won't be a first rounder, Warmack is a rare Guard. I'm hearing more and more people say he's better than DeCastro, Steen could be the best OG, which he probably won't be, in his class and still not go in the first.

Steen is definitely good. Warmack is having the best season though.
