Good thing MU basketball will keep my mind off of how damn cold it is.
But really I'm excited for AU basketball. Already was before the football season went to shite.

I want to be excited but I don't want to set myself up for disappointment like I did with our football season

Grant's squad is tourney bound this year, just like every year.

I am every year. I love basketball.

I love basketball, but Auburn sucks. We haven't had a decent team since Cliff Ellis left.

Since '98, football losing seasons have meant NCAA or NIT berths for the basketball team. (Don't know how exactly many seasons that's been, but still.)

I would gladly take an NIT berth...just hope to see improvement

I seriously think this team could get to the NIT.
But, then again, I thought the football team would get 7-9 wins this season.

Aren't we predicted to finish last in the SEC? I don't see an NIT this year but maybe next. Ready to watch Shaq Johnson though

By some folks. The Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, the preseason Bible, predicted that we would be a good postseason candidate.
I've seen others that have suggested that a team like this has the pieces to catch fire at the right time, surprise some big teams late, and make a mini-run in the SEC tourney. Could get a low at-large bid, but it would take our best basketball all season.
We're young, but we're getting closer to Barbee's vision for the program.
(I'm also looking forward to heckling Chubb again this year.)

It's hard to predict what we'll do this year. We have a ton of new players. Back to complaining though, it looks like our incompetent athletic department couldn't even coordinate a "Midnight Madness" for the basketball team this year. It was postponed before finally being cancelled. I would've like to see Shaq Johnson in a dunk contest.

I'd say:
Wallace or Greene
Sullivan
Payne
Chubb
Dixon-Tatum
That's a complete guess though. It depends how the freshmen come along.

Wallace should be in the starting five, I think. Played extremely well last season.
Denson and Payne could be mentioned for a spot.
A few of our big guys outside of Chubb are new: Dixon-Tatum, Adamu, Granger...depending on who gets RS'ed or not, they could get some time. I'd love to see a guy with Dixon-Tatum's size start alongside the Great White Nope.

Had one last year and it was super meh, especially the scrimmage.
However, I think it's really important for a growing program to have something like that.
Did you guys see what Ole Miss did for theirs on the Square this year? WHY CAN'T WE HAVE THAT?

I went. I liked the dunk contest. Gabriel had a good dunk when he bounced it off the back of the backboard. The girls stuff was pretty boring though.
I just want more effort in basketball from the AD. The students are doing a good job coming to games. The rest of the fans, not so much.

Wallace shouldn't start. He plays great in spurts of 2-3 minutes before getting sloppy and turning the ball over. Brian Greene will start at the 1.
Rotation will look similar to this
starter-- reserve(s)
1 Greene -- Wallace
2 Sullivan -- Denson/Price
3 Johnson -- Payne
4 Adamu -- Granger
5 Chubb -- Dixon-Tatum
