Bobby Lowder distancing himself from Chizik?

In the last couple of days on ITAT I've seen several different accounts of a conversation between Lowder and Jacobs before Chizik was hired. Long story short, if those stories are true, Lowder told Jacobs not to hire him due to lack of HCing experience. I'm curious to see if a similar story has recently came out on other boards.

Whatley kicking him off was the best thing that could've happened to this university.

Bobby Lowder is a cancer to this University. I'd rather keep Gene Chizik for life than allow Lowder to have the access he once had.

Yep, that would be one step back from where we want to go.

The family's net worth went from around 300+ million to around 10-15 I believe. still not to shabby, but not private jet material any more

Explain how this guy is a cancer though. His family is named after the business building for cryin out loud. He is a huge donator to the school. You cant blame a guy to want the best for his school considering the amount of money he had. Yes his bank collapsed but he obviously was succesful at one point in his profession. Can someone fill me in on him other than what I said?

Apparently so if you check the net.
Put on probation in 02 or 03 I believe. But I think Lowder hasnt had much influence since that time on the sports programs IMO.

No, I'm being serious. Wasn't Auburn put on probation bc of him? Granted I could be getting fact confused with that horrible ATPB thread.

Yes, and he also single handedly got rid of certain programs at Auburn because of personal vendetta's. The money he's donated over the years is great, but he's hurt our school a ton too. As others have said, him getting off the board is the best thing that happened to Auburn University in a long time.
