Coordinators are for the Xs and Os shite. Head coaches are for motivation, discipline, and program pride. Plus, to go against the machine that currently resides in-state, the next HC is going to need one hell of an axe to grind to stay motivated.
Sorry, this is just not true in the slightest. If the head coach doesn't have a direct impact on one side or the other of the ball then you are forever going to have trouble being consistently good. You are then at the mercy of your OC and DC hires, which will make it impossible to be good for long periods of time.
You need guys like Saban, Spurrier, Kelly, etc who are pretty much the DC or OC on their side of the ball, then one side is always consistent. Then the only blips will be those caused by new hires on the other side of the ball.
Our most successful times at Auburn occurred with Dye in control of our defenses to a large extent, and Tubs as our defensive mind for the most part. Hell, until his crap recruiting caught up with him, Tater Tot had us very successful.
It's simply much easier to replace one coordinator every 3-4 years than try and replace two every 3-4. It's hard to be succesful over a 10 year period doing that.

It was more meant in the sense that the HC shouldn't be meddling in everything or things they don't necessarily know about, like Chiz and offense. I don't disagree with your point, though. My point still stands that you need a HC that can motivate in addition to X's and O's, and if I had to choose I would ... probably find a HC that could do both but if I couldnt, find one that can at least get the players to get up for games.

Most definitely, Chiz reigning in Gus's play calling in some half arse effort to save our crappy defense hurt us last year (along with our terrible offensive line play and QB play). That was the #1 thing I hated about Tubs and Dye.
That's the main reason I really want us to hire a top notch offensive mind as our next head coach. Defensive head coaches can't seem to keep their damn hands off the offense long term, but offensive coaches are generally hands off with the defense. The main problem is just making the offensive head coaches care about the defensive recruiting and coaching, but if we hire guys like BVG as DC I don't see it being an issue. It's generally much easier to hire a solid up and coming DC than OC as well.

Wonder if Sonny Dykes would take a payraise for a title demotion.
He only makes 750k at La Tech. We could make him the OC and pay him 1.1.

It'd be the Tony Franklin system 2.0

With what we know now, was it really all his fault it didnt work at AU? No.
I'm really moving to the more passing attack offense. Dykes, Wilson as OC(if IU gets rid of him), someone like that.

I wanted to put this on here because I thought it was funny and I havent seen in posted yet:
Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs released a statement that said: "I know that we have found the right fit for Auburn. Gene's body of work during his 23 years in this profession is remarkable. He has a strong knowledge of this athletics program, this university and the community, and he knows how to be successful in the Southeastern Conference. He is a high-energy coach that is an outstanding motivator and demands a tough, physical style of football."[

I think we're going to need a pushpin on this one.
And change the heading to "Official". I think the witch hunt is on.

Damn. I'm going to be bar hopping all weekend with a few hotties.

We are in a bad spot. No high profile guy will come to Auburn, deal with our good ole boy adminstration, and compete head-to-head with Saban on every recruit unless they have a little baggage themselves.

You don't think Fisher is a legit candidate?

How? He just took the Rams job. I don't see him leaving.
ETA:
Sorry, wrong Fisher.
