Negatory on Rich Rod. He's not leaving Arizona especially after beating USC. The Pac 12 is too dang easy.
We're really going to have to hire one crazy MFr. If the guy was smart he'd evaluate EVERY goddamned HS team in the state, and develop around the strengths of the instate talent base.
ie, pro type passing, bruising straight ahead running. The option has kinda dissappeared from Arkansas HS football, we've pushed 7 on 7 and there's some pretty solid skill players, just not a buttload of them.
In a lot of the smaller schools they're still running the ball north south pretty well, Ft. Smith and LR need to step it up and start producing again. We can't have our 2 biggest cities not producing football players on a regular basis.
Defense.... I don't know, this would take solid evaluation of skill sets and busting arse doing free camps all around the state to teach the fundamentals the right way.

Now they're saying the refs gave Louisville the win vs Cincy.

I saw that. That group of posters is beyond help. They're going to bitch, moan and twist every little thing to fit their warped little reality.

I don't have any sources like the guys over at hv, but I do meet some interesting people in my day to day work. Last week I did some work at the home of a super donor. I started a conversation with the oldest son about the search. He told me he felt like Patterson was the first call. He claimed they had already reached out to the Patterson camp to gauge interest, but could not confirm if there was any.

what about a current NFL coordinator, who was an ex-NFL head coach?
doesn't seem anybody is mentioning anybody like that very much as a potential candidate. not sure why that is, but wouldn't surprise me if Long went that route IMO.
such as a Gregg Williams, Jack del Rio, Tom Cable, Mike Nolan, Mike Tice, Jim Haslett, Eric Mangini, Steve Mariucci, Brad Childress, etc... or another name I just thought of that's intriguing is Bill Cowher

I think any one of those could be a possibilty, if they are interested in coaching at the college level. I think Mariucci may be interested, but everytime i have seen him coaching the UnderArmour game he seemed crazier than Johnell.
I think Cowher is a guy Long would reach out to, there may be connection there. I'm just not sure Cowher would be interested in coaching at the college level.

Scott Linehan. Comes from the same Dennis Erickson/Jack Elway offensive system as Petrino.

Mark Dantonio come on down!
I do love how Nobville makes shite up saying "he's unhappy in East Lansing". Doubt that, however is 1.8m is very low and offering 3.8m or so would probably get him, maybe.
They don't like him over there, bunch of morons, was hottest name in coaching last year.
They lose Cousins, a record setting QB, and their entire WR corps, so now he sucks.
Defense is in the Top 10, and he's proven he can develop a QB. Would have the Allen's and Peavey stockpiled to develop, and would build us a solid arse defense.
From Texas, for Texas roots/ties, and an SEC guy having played at SC.

I would not object to D'Antonio. It worked for LSU, why not us.

I heard that Tom Lemming thinks James Franklin is still a strong candidate for the job.

Updated with last weekends results, and took off Holgs, and added Jim Mora, Gary Patterson and Dave Doeren

Cause the guy is winning at vandy. He knows what he is doing if he can pull that off. I would be ok with the hire not my top candidate though, even though he is sustaining success somewhere that no one has won much in almost a century

Good recruiter, too. His passion seems to resonate pretty well with young kids.
