What do you think the issue is with DGB?

Since every other message board has this thread, I figured I'd throw it out here and see what y'all think the issue is.
1) Is he just physically and mentally overmatched by the new speed of the game/better level of competition?
2) Is he not able to grasp our offense since hillcrests was just run deep and get the ball?
3) Is yost and crew just this oblivious and not able to work him into the gameplan?
4) something else I haven't thought of
Personally I'd say I just don't think it's clicked for him yet and our play calling/QB play has been atrocious.
Either way I don't care what's happening but it needs to get fixed and soon. Talk about an easy negative recruiting point, "Did you see they got the #1 overall player last year and he's nonexistent?"

He's a 19 year old kid from a smaller school that is a little overwhelmed IMHO.
AND his coaching could be better, coaching could always be better.
If he was a superstar he could be one and done, in this case he will be around for a while so enjoy watching him grow up. By the time he leaves the numbers will be there.

This. While he is built like a manchild, he spent his HS career dominating mostly 5'9 slow white kids with little football skills. He's gone from that to playing against guys that will be drafted in the NFL in 6 months. It would be like a HS baseball player going straight to AAA his first year. Tough to do. I imagine the speed out there coupled with the size makes it real tough to get open. Add in the fact that he probably doesn't really know how to run crisp routes and a learning curve with the playbook and there you go.
However, with a qb with a better/more accurate arm and a little time to throw, I see no reason why you can't just let him loose every now and then and just throw it up there.

I don't know if it's so much the playbook as it is how they want to utlise him. End around plays are not going to showcase his talents at this point.
I still say you have to utilise this guy to his stregths. Thats his speed and size. Being we've suffered at QB so far this year, you can't get a grasp on where he's at by watching a few plays cause the QB is either not seeing him, not his primary reciever on that play or just plain can't throw a catchable ball to him.
He's a Dwayne Bow type. It's sideline runs and using his height or it's slants and using his size. So far they realy have'nt done to much of either with him. It takes him a few yards to get going. End arounds are for shifty quick guys.
They just need to get him out there to let him get up to the speed of the game and develope his tecnique for getting open. I've said it quite abit here. He's not going to improve standing on the sideline. That is a fact.

I'm not a Yost hater at all, but I don't see how this doesn't fall on the coaches. Even if he isn't picking up the offense quickly and he isn't a genius you can still work him into the offense correctly.
Teach him to run a couple routes and then put him in on a few plays where he will run those routes. He doesn't have to stay in for the entire drive. Just tell him to streak down the field and jump real high, if he catches it great, ir not at least the other team will defend against it.
That being said, he will be fine, maybe in a month, maybe next year, but eventually we will all forget his struggles.
