I am asking because this was ust tweeted:

"Andy Staples?@Andy_Staples

Georgia QB Murray took his linemen out for ice cream for no sacks vs. Vandy. He used his mom's credit card. As of 5 min ago, she didn't know."

So is Aaron Murray's mom (knowingly or not) allowed to buy ice cream for his linemen? I know this is as petty as shite gets, but is it against the rules? Is there a $ limit to this kind of thing?

His mom probably just pays the bill as part of a joint account and he gets a card with his name on it.

I'm being serious though. What if she took them all out to Ruth Chris Steakhouse?

I mean, this is the NCAA we're talking about. I don't put a damn thing past them.

This is probably the correct answer.

CALL THE COMPLIANCE OFFICE! Call the NCAA, get Emmert here asap! This is blatant cheating if I ever saw it! When will the wild west that is UGA be brought to justice, do they have no governance? It's only okay if Newton...I mean Murray didn't know, not his parent.

Would you be surprised if this did break some kind of rule? I certainly wouldn't be surprised at all with the Nazi NCAA.

Parents take other kids out to dinner all the time. Especially on an evening after a day game. Not sure how you can enforce that.

I wanted to see what kind of responses I got. They were pretty much spot on.

Yup, Staples was firmly tongue in cheek...i.e. Icecream instead of shots...

This thread may be ridiculous but we just self reported Mike Bobo taking a recruit to a tennis match and the recruits family had to pay back $20 and Bobo got self imposed recruiting penalties. How ridiculous is that?

I think this could be a violation, but only on the bagel excess rule. It's ok to buy a player/recruit a bagel, but it's an extra benefit if you buy them them peanut butter with it, it's a violation.

So if any of them got sprinkles, y'all are f**ked!

In the world of compliance, this is a real issue. The fact that the ultimate payer was a players parent (who probably has am listed as dependent on tax return) makes it Kosher to use the bagel. If it were a friend of the rogram buying the ice cream, a violation. In all seriousness, I bet am cleared this first.

So this violation on $8 tickets that Bobo and the recruit didn't pay for, sounds like someone in the ticket office tattletales to our compliance office over this obvious violation! I'm sure they would have shelled out the money if they really thought this would be a violation. My question from here on out, is who's the tattletale in the ticket office, or did they just show up at a tennisatvh and were let in?
