So the question now becomes who you're going to overpay.

I love Jeff Long now. It was a complete bipolar change since he fired Petrino, but if he's throwing it out there like that, then I love him.

I wouldn't trust Jeff Long after his lame duck hire.

Who wouldn't want to be the highest paid coach in college football? I'm sure that offer will turn a lot of f'n heads.

Even if we did land a big name with a huge contract, it wouldn't guarantee on the field success and it wouldn't guarantee kids would want to play for him. It's about making the right hire for us and our circumstances, not the most expensive and flashy hire.

If the best coach for us is some up and comer who recruits well and is an advanced schemer in the college game and we only need a $2 M/year contract to land him, then so be it. I'd rather average 8 wins a year with that kind of coach than 9 games a year with a big name who we pay $6+ M/year for (and it wouldn't even be guaranteed that the bigger name and higher paid would win more).

If we wanted a gimmicky coach or one who would not succeed in the SEC we could hire Sumlin.

Meh. Tim Horton, John L., Paul Petrino all end same result.
